One of Jackie Collins' best
OK, so it's probably not fashionable for a bloke to like Jackie Collins, but hey, I like them. They're not too serious, they're funny, entertaining, and the characters always have a little bit of somebody you know in them. Lovers and Gamblers is one of Jackie Collins' best. The characters are enjoyable to read, whether you like them or not, realistic and flawed, none of them perfect. My favourite is Bernie Suntan, shame about his icky sticky end. Some of the more technical scenes are a bit short on detail, but hey, that's never the reason you pick up a Jackie Collins book. Let's face it, you read her books to be entertained, and with this one, she doesn't disappoint. On reading the kindle version, beware of indie-author levels of typos, but it's still a brilliant book. The tension right through is all between Al and Dallas. Will they, won't they? And only Jackie Collins could make a character as thoroughly dis-likeable as Al King turn into something more.Other books you might like to read Cold Steel on the Rocks We Are Cold Steel Kalter Stahl auf den Felsen Wir Sind Kalter Stahl

Another fantastic Collins book
I read all of Jackie Collins books in the 1970’s and 1980’s but now I’m reading them all again on Kindle. This book is typical Jackie, handsome powerful men and strong beautiful women. Al King is a superstar who makes excessive demands and his brother Paul (his manager) makes sure they are met. Al can have any woman he wants but it’s not until he sees Dallas that he realises she is the one he really wants however she has no interest in him. One thing that makes Jackie’s books so enjoyable are the characters who all have their own story. Another great read.

Jackie Collins at her vintage best - an unforgetable leading man and a wonderful heroine
The first Jackie Collins book I read in 1979 and I am still completely hooked by the characters. I just wish Jackie would revisit the story as she has done with the Santangelo series. Bad boy Al King meets his match in Dallas the beauty queen and former hooker. Sex, bombs, hijacking, power and money - Ms Collins at her finest without the politically correct overtones of her modern novels. The couple progress through the saga with a number of sharply drawn unforgetable minor characters - including Linda Cosmo who plays the sex game using male rules.Melanie King calculating gold digger married to Al's penny pinching brother Paul and Al's door mat of a wife - Edna who finally learns to apply eye shadow. There are the whores and junkies with sugar daddies - the decent but dull Cody Hills and Bobbie with her green talons and heroin habit.Pick it up if you dare and go back to the swinging seventies where hedonism and fun ruled the day.

Lost the plot in the middle and found it heavy going.
Could have come to the same conclusion in half the time, found it a bit muddled in he middle but gets more interesting towards the end if you keep going.

Al really is King
I'd read this book years ago and loved it, I saw it on Amazon and thought 'go one, buy it, it'll probably be rubbish but what the heck...' I'm so pleased I did do, I remembered the characters and even though I knew the outcome it was still a brilliant read. Al King is so obviously based on a very famous Welsh singer and I laughed at how, back in the 80s, a £100,000 house seemed like a luxury and £50 was considered a fortune to spend at a casino table, oh how times have changed! In all, a brilliant book and it was lovely to be transported back to my late teens when this was the raunchiest book I had ever come across - buy it, enjoy it.

A Great story with lots of steamy fun!
I've been a big fan of Jackie Collins since Hollywood Wives came out, and I've read every book she has published. This one is my favorite! There's plenty of sex and Hollywood drama here, but entwined is a great adventure story, with unexpected twists and a characters you will sympathize with and root for. Also and Dallas are not perfect, but the more you learn about them, the more you like them.A positive note about the Kindle edition. I have this book in hardback, as well as paperback. It's a big book. I've read it dozens of times, but I found passages in this Kindle edition that were new to me. They added background and a side story I didn't remember. I enjoyed this very much.

one of her Best!
This would have to be one of the best of her books. The Santangelo series still remains my favourite but I was totally hooked on this book from the very beginning.
