For wildlife the 300mm end may not be sufficient depending on what you want to shoot, but you can get a 1.4x teleconverter for extra reach. I used the70-300 with xpro2 and 1.4x converter for about 4mnths and this setup worked very well for its weight and image quality. If you want to do close focus then the 79-300 is the better choice here because it’s minimum focus distance is 80cm, it’s 1.8m for the 100-400.
