Itโs worth it
This is a great and tasty seaweed for that fresh poke with tuna. It last a long time and rehydrates quickly. Itโs a little pricey but where else can you get this in Ga

vegan source of hyaluronic acid for collagen production
First, I have never eaten poke, I don't even like seafood. But, as a person on a plant based keto diet, I needed a plant based collagen. I googled "vegan seaweed collagen". It turns out ogo is a terrific whole food source for hyaluronic acid - the stuff that keeps moisture in your skin. That explains why so many island peoples have such terrific skin!! So of course I came right to Amazon looking for product and this one was one of the few that said the magic word, ogo. And it contains a lot of the other minerals I also needed, such as iodine, which I need more now because I use pink salt instead of the iodized table salt. When I first got it, I was not impressed by the look of it. But it hydrates nicely (I dump it in with my chia and natto and everything plumps up together). It takes on the flavor of whatever spice I add. I have a Midwestern palate - that is, white people foods like meat, potatoes or dishes from the South that are less spicy, more delicate flavors. This product does not mess up those flavors at all. In fact, I can't even tell I've added it to the dish most of the time. I now add it to LITERALLY EVERY MEAL. The product is exactly as advertised, has no "extra ingredients" like bugs or leaves, seems fresh. I see myself buying this product forever because I see it as an important part of my skin care routine to produce my own collagen.

Rehydrated almost indistinguishable from fresh. Crisp and ocean-salty.
I was a bit skeptical about freeze dried limu, but living on the mainland, there are no sources for fresh. I was having a party and wanted to make as authentic a poke as I could. I'd already ordered kukui nuts (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GVVK8UI/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and made my own inamona, and the limu was the only authentic ingredient missing. Long story short, this product is fabulous! Simply soak in water for a minute and the product rehydrates into crisp, ocean-flavored limu. It really is fantastic. The product is a bit messy when trying to take just a bit out of the packaging. It's difficult to pull out just a bit without little pieces spilling out - - - this is precious stuff and I hate wasting even a little of it. What I ended up doing, is using kitchen shears to cut off the amount I need right into the bowl of water. This way, I could also skip having to cut the rehydrated limu, as I'd already cut it while still dry. The subtle added taste and crunch that this adds to the poke was fabulous. I used roughly 3+ lbs of sushi grade ahi and used about 1/3rd of this package...lots left for several more occasions.

Hawaiian Poke
Great on my Poke. To be honest, I can taste it but make my poke better with it. Though it is bit expensive, but you can use it for many times!

Good but not as good as fresh
I'll be honest, this dried Ogo is not bad if you live on the mainland or outside of Hawai'i. I moved to the mainland about 6 years ago where I had access to fresh limu. If your making some Poke this will be a good placeholder for fresh. However it lacks the distinctive crunch that fresh limu has. Also the flavor is not as good as fresh.

It's Not Poke without OGO!
I love Poke, but it's not the same without OGO seaweed. This is a great product at an affordable price. The one ounce package is enough for ten pounds or more of wonderful Poke. Some of the mixes have ogo, but are pretty pricey. I made a pound for a Christmas party for 10 last night and the Poke was the first thing to go. Yum!

The Best for Poke!
I've been looking for this dried ogo for forever!! I'm so happy Amazon now offers it. I ordered 3 pkgs, which might seem like a lot but if you like poke like we do, it won't last long. We've already made two types of Poke - ahi and salmon! Yum!! Just add some fresh raw fish, Hawaiian Alaea red sea salt, red pepper flakes, ogo (soaked in water for about 10 minutes), green onion, soy and sesame oil and you've got a feast. I just store my dried ogo in an airtight glass container!! You can't imagine how happy we are to be able to purchase this ogo!! Thank you Amazon, Hawaiian Store, NOH and Pacific Rim Gourmet!! Mahalo from a Hawaii born transplant!
