Stabilus987 997 Hood Strut Front Left+Right (Set of 2) OEM

Have been using this new set for over a year now and they work very well. It was very easy to swap them out and they fit perfectly in my 2009 911S. Wish I had done this sooner.

Just installed it today on my 987.1 Cayman base. Took about 10 mins, especially since I didn't know what to do (Haha, I was even surprised how small they were). Saw a video on Youtube ("Porsche Boxster Front Hood Strut Repair | BeatTheBush") during installation that cleared it all up. On both ends of the struts are a clip/ring that locks the struts into place. I used a small, flat-tip screwdriver to poke into it and rotated it to push the clip out. After doing it to both ends of the strut, I could remove it. I wiped the debris off the piece on the car but left the grease. The new struts, I just had to snap into place without having to remove or adjust anything else. Before, my hood would lift up (with me moving it) but fall with the slightest touch (unless it was all the way up). Now, the hood pops up to the top as soon as open the latch and lift it up.

The combined time for both left and right took less than five minutes to install. They fit and function perfectly. Great value!

Seems identical to the original (2010 Boxster Base Model, manual). Literally ten minutes to replace the 2. Can’t speak for long term yet.
