I Made it to Page 5
Let me save some of you $13.99 + tax. Read the copy for this book, and then see if you see what I saw when I got to page 5. For those who can't zoom and see what is highlighted in yellow and pink, let me fill you in.On page 4, he says, "Not all pantsers are created equal." He then goes on to say that There are 'serious pantesers' vs. 'ride-or-die' pantsers'. He says he is ride or die, someone who would never ever outline vs. someone who may on accasion, do so. He then contrasts 'Rewriters' vs. 'non-rewriters'. He says he is a non-rewriter which is someone who edits and polishes as they go on their first draft so that when they finish the first draft, they have essentially finished the final draft. For the record, I am a Serious pantser (though just barely) and a rewriter. I usually do 3 drafts. And now for the coup de gras...highlighted in pink, he says, "If you're PRO rewriting, I'd stop reading and find another book to help you.Gee, Mike, that would have been a helpful thing to mention in your ad copy.So anyone who is a serious pantser and pro-rewriter, beware. Also, he basically steals from Wesley Dean Smith, a personal correspondent, and his book, Writing into the Dark. And if you're a ride or die/non-rewriter, I would suggest Smith's book instead.
