Not what I expected
First, the good. It has a large, square, solid work surface that's smooth allowing material to glide over it. The front of the table is adjustable for sanding at an angle. The dust collection is quite good. The sanding drums change out easily and there are storage areas for both the sanding drums and table inserts making for organized storage, something I find particularly important. Now the bad: It is very VERY noisy, more than any other machine in my shop. The spindle has a wobble which is quite noticeable with the largest drum, creating a vibration which makes working difficult. After I had worn out the sanding sleeves I ordered replacements from WEN only to find they are one inch shorter than the drums.I use this to profile knife handles and it performs this adequately but due to the noise factor I have increasingly resorted to using files and rasps instead of using it. I still use it because it's there and I spent hard earned money on it but had I known then what I know now, I would not have bought it.

Wouldn’t buy this again...
This is my third oscillating sander, second WEN sander. Including the two saws I own, not one vacuum attachment fits. They are ALL different. Now add the fact that WEN also changed the tube length. Tubes are all 4.5 inches...this is 5” and change. Sand paper tubes only come in 4.5 and 6” lengths. Not to mention this wen won’t take the 3inch diameter at all! Then of course the plastic inserts for the table don’t even come close to being flush....which causes a pause in your sanding stroke, ruining a smooth finish. Last but not least...the steel casting had holes and rough spots on finish. Looks as if they sent a used one. Closer inspection just shows it’s cheap. You get what you pay for. But as what I thought was an upgrade from the base model...actually cost me more money. Buy the cheap one, get the insurance, use it til it breaks, return for new one. As a professional knife maker, I’d skip this one if I had the chance again. Sadly I didn’t open the box until two days after the return date.

It died after 10 minutes use out of the box - Nope! It was a tripped breaker !!
This was my second purchase of the same model - somewhat against my better judgment - but Wen seemed to own the market in this price range. My first unit lasted about 4 years with only occasional use. This unit died right out of the box.Amazon took it right back and gave me a refund, but the effort of repacking and lugging the thing to UPS was a pain. I can't understand how Wen can sustain the high Amazon star ratings.Update!! It appears there was an element of stupidity involved in above review. I discovered today that the breaker had tripped on outlet tied to spindle sander :( Upon trying another outlet I discovered that the unit is working fine. So I'' give it the benefit of the doubt and see how long it lasts.

Problems, but they took care of it.
First one arrived and the black case was cracked, big time. Called WEN SUPORT AND THEY WERE VERY NICE AND SENT ME A NEW ONE, AFTER I RETURNED THE OLD ONE. Really a hassle. Second one seems fine. Got what I paid for. Only maximum of a 2" drum, beware or trying to smooth out large radius curves with this small a drum. Really a shame they do not provide a 3" and 4 inch drums as well.
