They work absolutely great. Set the trap and bait with black sunflower seeds. We've had to attach the traps to tent stakes to prevent larger animals from carrying off the trap. **Q: Can you buy or get more removable bait cups?** A: I had one batch of traps whose bait cups broke the first or second time that each trap snapped (specifically the tabs at the bottom are what failed). I emailed the manufacturer, who mailed me a bag of 25 replacement cups. It’s rugged. It’s remarkably simple to sad without any worry of stamping your finger. But most importantly, it just works well. Also the set mechanism is much simpler on these traps and as I said above don’t put your fingers at risk of damage. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tomcat is resettable compared to a budget brand *by M***L on August 28, 2026* Tomcat is the better rat trap of the two brands I bought. This brand costs more so at first I bought the cheaper one. Set of six. Tomcat is worth it because it allows one to keep resetting the trap again after a satisfying catch. The cheaper brand had three out of six that caught the rats but wouldn’t reset for a second use. And one part I don’t like about Tomcat is the small hole that is on the bottom rather than the top and the bottom falls out and you can’t put very much bait in. I’ve learned rats like a big pile of bait (I’ve had great success with peanut butter oyster crackers and a piece of pasta-a big pile that I was able to make using the cheaper brand because they have a big hole on top.) So the budget traps worked great the first time but can’t always be reset for second round. But they had a big top hole for the bait. Tomcat hole is on the bottom and very small. It still caught a rat or two. I think Tomcat is worth the extra money because they can easily be reset over and over. But the bait hole is inadequate.
