It's best to have the internal tank full so there's less air in it. As that tank gets lower, it creates a vacuum that pulls gas from the external tank. It's also best, but probably not necessary, to have the external tank higher than the generator. **Q: Is this for the older small fuel caps ot the newer larger caps?** A: The newer one.
