I brought this when Electricity prices went high, in the hopes it would save money. What I have found so far is its great for cooking stuff without having to pre-heat the oven. If you are like me, I turn on the oven go do something and it could be 50 min before I remember the oven is on, and by that time the item would have been cooked twice over. So yes has saved me money on Electricity. Easy to use, turn on, select what side you want to use, I click on the manual button and set time and temp and its away it goes. It beeps to tell me when its finishing, so ideal for checking and extending the time if needed. Has programs but I haven't used them at all. I purchased separately some Silicone Tray Liners, which fit fine and can really be scrubbed clean so no worrying about the non stick coating. But if you do chips in it I wouldn't use liners. I actually prefer my Actifry for Chips, I also tried a rack in here which didn't work out well. I like the fact that you can have 2 different items on at the same time, so when my family want different stuff its easy to do, and at times I have cooked a toasty in the Salter AF, and my husband loves them (so making our toasty machine redundant. But I also use Bagette for homemade Pizza base and the family love it, they can have their own choice of toppings- 5 min and its ready to eat. I saw online someone put in grease proof paper as a liner, I tried doing this with a big fail as I left the paper too long, the paper burned and was lucky I was right next to it. OK now down to size, in ways I wish I had brought the other one with one big compartment and not the 2 trays with different temps. Some items I cook are too big for the tray so do still have to use the oven, eg shop brought family size pie, but if you make your own from start just use the correct dish and its great.

Peace of soda, have two Salters, this one is just brutal, does not Sync, one side raw the other burnt

The Salter EK5872 is a very smart, unobtrusive and adaptable air fryer and a bargain at the current Amazon price of £99.99 v Salter’s current £132.99. We were looking for a versatile capacity air fryer that was not too big for a retired couple. We looked for smaller drawer capacity to cook just a “handful” of chips or a few onion rings or hash browns as well as a couple of steaks or chops (more exotic menus to follow?) without having to uneconomically use our main oven. Operation is relatively intuitive but as has been pointed out there is no preheat function (debatable?). The current product description does however say no need for this. As has been pointed out previously there is an error in the very skimp manual which states “always preheat before starting to cook”. This has been acknowledged as an error to be removed in future editions. Another reviewer commented that the quoted external dimensions as stated are 37.8W X 36.4D x 31.9H cm but that includes the handles. These protrude 5 - 7.8cm and therefore the actual on bench footprint is smaller at only 28D cm. Someone enquired about internal drawer dimensions on the Salter web site but they could not provide this info - could they not have opened a box and measured! The Salter basket with divider in place at 2 x 4L is ideal. We also wanted the capacity to be able to cook a large chicken or joint with roast veg when needed, and the 8L capacity with the divider removed is ideal for this. The inside dimension is slightly larger than suggested in an other review at 32L x 22D x 10.5H cm. It was difficult sourcing a silicone liner basket for this and currently the only suitable one would appear to be the Goodpejine (for Duronic AF34) large silicone liner. This is advertised as 31L x 21W x 9.5D cm. This does slope inwards to a base of 28W x 17L x 10D cm so easily fits, especially with the overly flexible sides! Other makes vary between 34 - 37cm length and are too big. With the divider fitted the individual size of each compartment is slightly less than half at 15.5 W x 22 D cm. There are lots of makes of liners out there around 13 W x 19 D cm which will fit but I would advise a larger size such as the redesigned larger Moleath at 14 W x 20 D cm and this allows for the insertion of various (check dimensions) racks. Now the experimenting and learning curve starts for us - so far so good! If purchasing don’t forget to go onto the Salter web site and register for the extended 3 year warranty. PS. After a month we are very satisfied with this for our needs. One point which we discovered, which an other reviewer mentioned, is to NOT FILL DRAWER WITH WATER to stand after cooking - IT DOES LEAK AROUND THE GLASS INSPECTION PANELS and onto the bench and floor!

Haven’t had an air fryer before but hardly using the oven since we bought this. I think this will change a little in winter when I am making casseroles etc but the air fryer is so useful for items such as various fries, jackets, halloumi and fish. It cooks very quickly and evenly and must be using a lot less electricity than our oven, it is also easy to clean. The only downside, which has been noted by other reviewers, is the very poor instruction booklet. Salter - please take note.

I’ve been using a single drawer air fryer for a couple of years now and got on quite well with it, but at times I wished I’d had a two draw one. Everyone rates the Ninja ones but I didn’t want to spend the amount they cost so looked at a few others. In the end I decided on the Salter which is reasonably priced. I was surprised at how compact it looked and because the drawer fronts are stainless steel it lifts the whole look compared to the all-black models. (Why are they all black? So drab). It’s very easy to use and the drawers are so easy to clean. I’m over the moon with it.
