Tascam AK-BT1 - Bluetooth Adapter for TASCAM Products

I nearly didn't buy this after reading some really strong reviews that implied this is really loose and fragile. I took the risk to eliminate handling noise when adjusting the gain. The adapter works well for it's purpose - it fits securely and doesn't fall out. In one of the reviews, someone wrote that it risks being knocked, causing damage to itself or the main device. But that is an overstatement - it slots in straight and the square edges line up in a way that prevents any lateral or vertical movement, so it can't be torn out or bent in a way that could cause damage. I feel there has been some misleading review bombing of the Tascam X6/X8 and its accessories, presumably by owners of previous models who felt reassured by their solidity. I have been pleasantly surprised, again, and am glad I ignored the OTT negative reviews.

I’ve been using this in my tascam x6 for a while and it always connects to the app on the phone with no issues. I’ve not had any issues with it dropping out at all, and I have it permanently installed in the unit pretty much all the time for convenience. In terms of appearance, the fact that it pokes out and isn’t flush with the body of the x6 slightly irritates me. I’ve found it a good fit, but with it poking out I do worry about it getting knocked. It makes it more open to mishaps. What frustrates me more still is that these units can and should have Bluetooth in them as standard these days. I have a Sony A10 and OM Systems LS-p5 that both have Bluetooth built in to them. It wouldn’t cost much to implement the technology into the unit and comes across as a little bit of a way to get more money from you if I’m honest. I think most people would prefer to pay a little more for these devices to have Bluetooth built in and not have to make a separate purchase. I’m rating 3 stars due to the shape of the Bluetooth adapter and the fact it even needs to exist in this day and age. I’m also rating it lower than I usually would because I think the cost is too high for something this basic and something that should be built in to the tascam unit itself. In terms of performance, it works and connects fine. I’d enjoy it if the range was a little larger too personally, but otherwise it’s great and does what you need it to do with little to no fuss.

The price tag for this Bluetooth adapter is simply unjustifiable when considering its limited functionality. The lack of performance for such an expensive Bluetooth adapter made me deeply regret my purchase, as I find myself using it far less than anticipated. The adapter simply connects and mirrors the Tascam x8 menu with the mobile app, offering no additional features. I can adjust my Tascam settings using the app, but it doesn’t work to transfer or play the recorded sounds on my phone. Overall, this Bluetooth adapter and the whole Tascam X8 Bluetooth feature left me extremely dissatisfied.

It fits quite loosely and sticks out so can’t leave in all the time. The app works well for adjusting settings and mirrors the device screen. Shame you can’t stream the audio though as without it it’s kind of pointless

The lack of bluetooth functionality in the TASCAM Portacaptur is a major flaw. You cannot play back recordings to a blutooth speaker!!! This should come as a basic function. Unbelievable.

Pros: It connects quick and easy with the smartphone app. Remote controlled adjustments are a big game changer for adjusting settings without introducing handling noise to a recording, especially when not able to stay right beside the unit the whole time. And for monitoring levels when not using 32-bit float setting. But it hasn’t been all smooth. Cons: It works, but it seems not as stable a connection as I hoped for. My first experience: Extreme delays and frequent bluetooth drops. Not sure if it’s the bluetooth adapter or the recorder, that’s causing it. Did some problem solving research. Found out that some specific settings needed to be turned off to eliminate extreme delays (lagging) and the frequent drops. So I did and it significantly improved. But it’s still sensitive and feels like it could drop the connection anytime. However, it works usably since. Since there are no other alternative options, this will have to do. And I’m glad it at least works. Workarounds would be to make sure that most settings are correctly set before starting a recording. Overall, it’s still worth having. And the pros are such a big help, that they outweigh the cons, as long as it works.

Me parece estupendo poder monitorear y subir o bajar ganancia sin acercarme a la grabadora. Lo que veo un error de Tascam es que no venga internamente incluido y tengas que hacer un gasto extra para tenerlo.

Connects easily, and via bluetooth only introduces about a second of lag, which for something like this, is actually quite good. So, it does make it usable on your phone or tablet.
