Out of the three varieties of Omeals I've tried so far the Pasta Fagioli easily beats the Beef Stew and Vegetarian Chili flavors. Your results may vary. This 8-ounce meal was delicious, with a good balance of herbs, spiciness and salt. The other two varieties were just *meh* in comparison. The heating packet worked perfectly with about 4 ounces of water (or other "liquid"). Napkin, spoon, salt and pepper are included. Great for emergencies, or when you just want a hot meal when the power goes out or the roads are too icy to venture out. Or you're doing that camping thing.

Beats the heck out of freeze dried food and conventional MREs. Tastes great and really gets hot! Good portion size for one individual. I'm hooked! A word of caution--the liquid in the pouch gets HOT, so careful with it.

This tasted surprisingly good & I like the self-heating concept. As others have mentioned it’s a very small portion size, 200 calories. Not an adequate dinner for an adult after a long day of hiking- need to supplement it with something else. Also there is a danger of scalding yourself with the hot water in the packet. I let it sit for a while.

Not much food in the bag for a hungry hiker. Be careful...this is a serving for 1. In many of the other brands, there is enough for 2 people. I will say the heating element was COOL and worked great! Food was hot and flavorful!

I was skeptical at first. However; the flavor was great, easy transport and stayed hot until gone. I'll definitely buy it again

The meals are actually quite tasty. Amazing self heating is versatile because you can use the hot liquid to warm up other stuff like instant coffee inside the envelope.

This review is for ALL OMeals flavors. While the flavor is actually really good, the package weight is 8 ounces. While carrying a few of these for a short backpacking trip isn't too much of a hassle, the calorie count for the weight isn't worth it, in my opinion. The vegetarian chili is about a cup, maybe, of food with 160 calories. This isn't meal-sized portions, especially when hiking/backpacking, so one would need to carry these meals plus supplements or other calorie sources - adding up to way too much food weight. I would recommend these for a light camping trip, but honestly, you can find better priced options. The flavor is good, but not good enough to make it worth it.

This is not a review about the taste of the product or how well the heater pack works. It about expiration date. They put a hole in a suspicious space. How do you know when it expires? The manufacturer tell me it is the steam vent, but it's not. I haven't tried it because i don't know how old it is. It might be just a hole to hang it. But it completely removes the year that it expires. I know what fifo is, because I work in retail food sales. We would have to throw these out by law because of this. I really wanted to try this for emergency supplies in earthquake county. I will update this if the seller updates me about this problem.
