Q: what grade of methylcellulose is this? I am using it for marbling, but I need to know what it is thanks

It's very hard not to have the paint sink, even with the right mix. Try watering the paint down until it stops sinking. Are you using acrylic paint?

Q: Can this be used to make ballistic gel?

No. Methyl cellulose thickens water as in your typical thick salad dressings. But it is hard when dry and useless for ballistic gel. Stick with Knox brand Gelatin for a reasonably priced gelatin.

Q: is this soluble in ethanol?

I don’t think that I would do it. It is a water soluble glue.
