Fantastic Kids Smart Watch – Easy Setup and Great Features!
I’ve tried several kids' smartwatches, and the SPACETALK Adventurer 4G is by far the best one yet! The setup was incredibly easy, especially compared to other watches we've used in the past. It was up and running in no time, with clear instructions and no tech headaches. The watch itself is durable, the GPS tracking is accurate, and the call quality is fantastic. My child loves the games and camera, while I appreciate the peace of mind with the safety features and SOS alerts. Highly recommend to any parent looking for a reliable, kid-friendly smartwatch!

It works!
It works with at&t. Easy to set up with a sim card. Did have to call customer service for a few things but they were so helpful and stayed on the phone with me while I got everything updated and activated. I had to restart the watch twice to get the signal to connect from at&t. I can't say enough about the easy app it comes with either, and I can keep track of my 6 year old who isn't ready for a phone. The location tracking is awesome, and she can call me anytime. It also has a school mode so she can wear it to school without it being an interruption. She also doesn't have the ability to add her own contacts or receive calls that are not in her contacts, which I love. No internet browsing either. So if you're looking for a watch thats reliable that connects to your GSM network, look no further. And if you have at&t its only $10 a month to add a line for a watch. Seriously love this thing. I will say the charger could use some work, I charge it for her as it's very finicky. Otherwise though it's pretty great as is. After one year... The watch band was broke off and they wouldn't replace it. So we bought a new one but couldn't buy them anywhere in the US they stopped selling them. So we ordered a brand new one in the box off ebay as that's the only one we could find. The sound stopped working a week into purchasing it. We contacted the manufacturer who would not replace it because we didn't buy it from them or Amazon. Which was impossible at the time. Wasted $340 on these watches. So we just bought a Samsung Galaxy watch 5 and that's what my daughter wears now.

Great Starter Device
Originally bought from Best Buy and had for a year before I accidentally broke the watch face. Bought this as a replacement and we love it just as much. The location updates can be sometimesy and you have to play with the settings to adjust. But overall it does what it’s supposed to. The battery life is great. We get through the entire day before needing a charge. Occasionally overheats if things like brightness are max and use is prolonged. But these are minor fixable issues. Great value for the price. My 8 yo is gaining responsibility and also able to communicate with his friends and family. No complaints. No internet access either.

Terrible product! Broke after one hour of use!
Where do I start?!! First when we charged it the watch kept saying it was overheating on the screen! All I was doing was charging it and yet somehow it's charging device was causing it to overheat. Next the set up process is difficult to follow and took forever. Once it was charged, I tried over and over to "pair" it with my phone. It never did! I followed the instructions and no matter what it never paired with my phone. The screen is hard to see and half the time it doesn't acknowledge you've even touched the screen. No side buttons, just touch screen and poor visibility. When we were outside we had to go under a shaded tree just to see the time and even then we had to shade it more with our hand. Finally, my 6 year old daughter wore it to do a 1.5mile run. The first and only time she ever wore it (not kidding)!!! She wore it for about one hour in total. When we got home I asked to see what her watch said on her step count and it said "no sim card" on the screen. I knew I put a sim card in and I paid to activate it with Jumpy (another awful product). We took the sim card out and it was water damaged. Shortly after the watch shut off and never came back on again. So we got one full hour out of this product! The best part is jumpy won't replace the sim card cause it's "water damaged" from my child sweating. It says it's "water resistant". She didn't submerge it in water, she was sweating from a run. So apparently sweat is all it takes to stop this product from working. Save your money people! Now I have to cancel the phone plan I got to go with this garbage so I'm still not done with this headache. $40 kids watches have better reviews than this $200 watch. Don't believe the hype!!

Great watch but beware the charger that comes with it
We did a ton of research before buying this watch for our almost-9-year-old son and, for the most part, are happy with it. It has some excellent features and met the most important criteria we had (it has to work internationally since we travel fairly often). I want to give more stars but the cons I've listed below are fairly major IMO and the company needs to improve these issues - especially since this watch is more expensive than most! Ultimately, we're happy we went with this one over the other options out there for kids but since we made our decision partly based on the reviews, I wanted to provide our take here for anyone else considering the Adventurer: Pros: - the GPS locator works internationally as long as you have a data plan for travel. Before buying this, I contacted tech support for some other watch brands and was told by all of them that their GPS feature does not work outside of the US. If you don't travel overseas then this obviously won't matter but having peace of mind knowing where our son is in a foreign country was paramount for us. - We were able to add the watch and its phone number directly to our Verizon plan instead of having a stand-alone plan - We can set multiple safe zones so my son could leave his friend's house in the neighborhood to head to the pool and we'll get the alert that he's farther away - You can block any incoming calls/text messages from numbers that aren't programmed into the watch - Our son gets excited over the reward system - he loves to feed the dog now in the morning and get a star for it! - You can set "school" hours and turn individual features on/off. We kept his texting live but blocked phone calls. We tested it by calling him during these hours on a school holiday and sure enough, couldn't get through. - We love the activity tracker/step counter. He's so proud of himself when he's hit his daily goal - This watch is durable and sturdy - easily stands up to a young boy who bangs himself around without a care in the world for what kind of damage he can inflict - the SOS calls emergency numbers that have been programmed into the watch, not 911 unless you've added that. To activate the SOS, you just have to swipe up on the first screen so it's easy to access. (This could also be a con since it's a tempting feature for kids to play with!) Cons: - The charger that comes with the watch broke the first night we got it. One of the charging prongs got stuck in when we went to charge for the first time so now you have to flick it out with a fingernail each time and then fiddle with it to make sure the watch is actually charging. More than once we've come down in the morning to find it didn't actually charge and the watch died overnight. We've just ordered the charging stand so hopefully, this will be solved but I'll edit my review when I know more - The battery life isn't great. At full power, we get about 1.5 days before I get the alert that it's down to 15% power. And this is with the locator updates set to 15 minutes - more on that next... - The locator update timing options aren't great. We have it set to 15 minutes because anything less than that drains the battery faster. The problem with this comes when my son leaves the safe zones, sometimes it's quite awhile before I get the alert. If he were to ever be kidnapped or get hurt outside the zone, 15 minutes makes a huge difference! Yes, I can locate him myself anytime I want/need through the app but it's not like I'm routinely thinking I have to search for him Overall - I don't think there's a single watch out on the market yet that does a stellar job. They're either missing one or two great features or they're insanely expensive for what you get. Hopefully, the stand that we've ordered fixes our charging issues and if it does, then that will go a long way in making us happier with this watch. Our son loves it and it does have a lot of great features!

Ticked the main boxes, tricky to charge and setup
Great parental controls! No internet access. Gives me the ability to GPS locate my kid or call my kid. Gives my kid the ability to call trusted numbers for help. Allows me to control times of use so the kid is not playing with it during class or tutoring. No complaints from teachers. Difficult to fasten on child's wrist. Difficult to charge. Video calls have not worked for us, maybe I am doing it wrong. Setup is difficult, as described in other reviews--allow time and patience. Revisiting after many month: I have gotten good at charging. For me the trick is to lay the watch in a good spot (turned the correct way) where the charge cord will not be pulling once placed on. Place the charger on and the green power light will blink from green to red and back to green. (I have seen this described as placing the watch on the charger, but with the straps sticking out and no support structure, other way up.) I keep my eye on it and count to 10. By then the light turns red and stays red until charging is complete. Of course, you could bump it and knock the charger off the watch, but I put it in a place where I won't. I do make charging my job, not my child's. I wish I could make the safe zones smaller, but this seems to be the state of the technology whatever product you choose. I have an elder care watch for a parent and it is the same way. I would like to see a software improvement. I have some repeating "school mode" times, which I generally like. But, when I want to add a "school mode" time for a one-off situation I have to delete the repeating one or work around it somehow. This came up because I sent him on a group camping trip. I shut down almost everything on the watch to help the battery last, but I wanted him to have it in case of the unlikely and may God forbid it event that he gets lost in the woods. You might be thinking I am crazy because he won't have cell service in the woods. Actually, search and rescue operations can bring in a temporary cell site on a drone to provide service in an area where someone is lost. This would allow me to use the app to remotely turn on his GPS tracking, if he still has battery life.

Recommended! Big watch, small price!
I'm very happy with this purchase! I was researching watches for my son, but with so many options out there, it was hard to decide. I pulled the trigger on this one because of it's reasonable device price as well as connectivity pricing. Connectivity plans through the included SIM option were offered monthly, semi-annually, or annually, with heavier discounts the longer the commitment. I was only looking for call, text and GPS features, but this watch comes with so much more! And again, for the price of something with less capability. We've only had the watch for a couple of weeks, but it's already saved our bacon when we, the parents, forgot to coordinate who was picking our son up from school! Instead of neither of us realizing what happened and leaving him on his own, he just called when no one showed up at the normal time. Worth it! Thanks Spacetalk!

Good software / Terrible hardware
Pros: Do not need the Spacetalk app to call or text phone. Which is great for grandparents as long as they are approved contacts established in the parent's app. Voice to text works well. Calls are clear. You can use any SIM card you already have activated on a monthly plan. GPS is accurate within about 50 yards. Cons: In order to use GPS and set up approved contacts, the Spacetalk app is a monthly subscription of $5 on top of your monthly phone minutes. The charger is a terrible design. The band pops open and off in multiple ways when you don't want it to. The watch has plastic connectors that go into the rubber watch band. Similar to older Fitbits. At day 28 of using this watch the plastic connector broke off. It's part of the watch body, so there's really no fixing it. It should not have broken as easily as it did as this is a item marketed for kids. They bumped their wrist on a door frame. When, I initially tried to return it this product page no longer existed. Amazon did a manual return. I did email the company and the only thing they seemed concerned with was the SIM card location showing damage. They agreed to replace because there was no damage to the SIM reader, but that was about 10 days after Amazon had resolved our return problem.

Wont connect to the network provider here, Touchscreen is not great.
Can't manage to even get going on this thing. Using a known working SIM it just says "no service". Also the cross icon in the top left of the touchscreen is often not registered which makes moving back through the menu system a little cumbersome. So far, so bad.

Don’t do it! You need a full calling/texting/data plan in Canada and it won’t work on wifi at all
This is the most frustrating thing I’ve purchased in a long time. Based on other reviews in Canada I purchased this along with a $10 a month data plan from Fido. The calling and texting features will not work with data only and require a full cell phone plan (at minimum $40 a month per child and entirely not worth it for the limited capabilities of these devices). The data also gets eaten up super fast by the gps feature and you cannot connect to wifi at all, leaving these devices useless. I’m sending it back and I recommend looking elsewhere.

One of the most cost-effective GPS watch with texting and voice call for kids
My son has been using this watch since July 2022. I, being a tech geek, couldn't be happier with this watch for what it offers my son and us in terms of his safety at school (or anywhere) and in terms of being able to stay in touch by text or voice at any given time. The watch offers geofencing (setting a safety perimeter) and alerts when my son exits the perimeter that we set around his school. A couple of improvements that could be made for this watch: (1) charging cable attaches loosely to back of the watch and the slightest movement can disrupt connection; (2) make weather location info customizable. This is so far one of the functions that is inaccurate and there is no way in the watch or in the app to adjust it, (3) would be excellent if the requirement for monthly subscription is waived. In Canada, it works with Shaw Mobile. I am paying CAD 5/month for a SIM card with unlimited voice and texting. Keep in mind though that this watch requires a monthly subscription (CAD 5.49/month) as well to enable voice/calling/texting functions. Between an apple watch with call and GPS capability vs this one, this one is definitely way more cost-effective in the intermediate term.

DO not buy this watch for your child.
I purchased this watch for my 9 year old daughter at Christmas and at first everything was great. I purchased a SIM card through Virgin mobile and my daughter loved being able to text or call us, her grandparents, and aunt and uncles. She would send them photos and emojis and stay in touch. I really can’t complain about how the watch functioned, HOWEVER it ONLY lasted 3 months. The watch is advertised as water resistant, which means it should withstand NORMAL day-to-day use from a child. My daughter is extremely responsible and NEVER wore it in the shower, bath, or when swimming, however a small amount of water must have entered the back of the watch (on the wrist) into the SIM card compartment (probably just from washing her hands) and very slightly corroded the SIM card reader. Everything on the watch still works but it DOES NOT recognize that there is a SIM card installed. It says “NO SIM”. I didn’t know what was wrong, so I contacted tech support, sent photos and explained that it no longer reads the SIM card. They said that with the photo I sent they can tell that it is due to water damage and therefore there is NOTHING they will do (ie, send a replacement or refund). This is a very expensive watch and I am absolutely devastated that it only lasted 3 months. DO NOT BUY. Spend the extra $130 and get an Apple Watch. I CANNOT believe that they didn’t protect the SIM card compartment from water and I consider it to be FALSE ADVERTISING that they claim it is water resistant. Anyone who has every worn a watch knows that water and moisture gets stuck under the wrist band from time to time just for normal use.

Ok watch for smaller kids
I had the same watch for 8 yrs son in Australia and it worked well that time. Coming to Canada and thought I get him the same thing, but that didn’t go as planned. It was difficult to configure and the support is only via email and not phone. Also, cost point of view, this was slightly costlier after 1 year $300 for watch $40 per month for mobile bill $6 per month for app charges Turns out iwatch see, can do all these (with bell) for $32 per month Got better deal, returned the watch. Still waiting for refund.
