Love Intel NICs
I love Intel NICs. They are reliable and work great. I purchased this adapter as part of a new build.

Solid upgrade
Added two ports. Recognized immediately by Ubuntu LTS. Was able to set up in aggregate mode with my switch without issue. Would buy again.

Chipset has hardware bug that affects Linux/Debian
This network card is detected/works with Linux indeed, but apparently the chipset suffers from a hardware bug that Intel is not going to fix. I experienced this bug on both of the ports. The observed behavior is that the network stops working (unable to ping gateway, etc.) and receive an error message like: e1000e 0000:04:00.0 enp4s0f0: Detected Hardware Unit Hang You can google the above error message to find more information. The error occurred on my Proxmox (Debian 12) installation with a Asus x870 motherboard This NIC uses the Intel e1000e Linux driver, which has final release 3.8.4 from 2020. So it is no longer getting updates. As a solution (so far) I'm now using a NIC with a different chipset, in my case an Intel 82576 Chip. This apparently uses a different Intel driver and does not suffer from the bug. The 82576 uses Intel igb driver which is receiving updates (December 2024). So 82576 seems the way to go.
