I loved the hero and really loved the heroine, who was independent and spunky and brave. Nico is the son of a mobster who was born outside his father's marriage. He witnessed his father murder and swore to get revenge. While he is attending a dinner, three Mafioso are gunned down and he finds Mia, the daughter of a rival Don in the restaurant. He suspects she maybe involved but she escapes and he lets her go. The two are immensely attracted to each other but like Romeo and Juliet their love is forbiddenThey go thru a lot of ups and downs but you can tell they like that they are both unconventional and they challenge each other in a good way. One of the most tender moments is when Nico realizes that he's fallen in love with Mia, gave me goosebumps!I am a big fan of the author's work. I have read the MMA series and just started reading her MC series. In all of her books she writes steamy, sensuous love scenes but what I like best about her books is the development of emotional intimacy between the couples and the way the characters, particularly the men have a depth of complexity that belies how the outside world typically sees them. Her heroes are alpha men who are very virile and powerful but they can also be sensitive and surprisingly vulnerable with the women they love. These alpha men may be strong, but they like strong feisty women who aren't afraid to stand up to them and challenge them. Her heroes have experienced a lot of hardships and heartaches but they are willing to take a chance on love again when they meet the right woman. All of her books really show you the redeeming and healing power of love. She also writes great secondary characters. The next book features Lucas, but I really want to read Frankie's story! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fab mafia romance. What really made me enjoy Nico was how the author portrayed Nico and Mia and this mafia world. These two people who knows how the mafia world operates because they both exist in it because of their families. Nico is the capo of his family and Mia wants nothing to do with hers and tries to separate herself from it but her abusive and controlling father and mafia Boss has other plans for his daughter. It’s dark, uncomfortable and gritty. Just like I expected the mafia world to be.Nico and Mia has an incredible chemistry. Instantly attracted to one another and also fascinated. They both accept each other for who they are. Nico can be ruthless but only when it’s warranted. Towards Mia he’s gentle but also dominating. The perfect balance. Mia is a fierce and strong woman. Protects her little sister from their father and doesn’t want to be labeled. She believes in free will and a woman can amount to anything they set their mind to. My kind of heroine.Nico is my first book from this author and now I need to read more from her. He grew up with his mother being the mistress for his father and his mother's death brought him into the family that didn't truly accept him. His father loved him, so when he was killed, Nico was determined to be strong enough to get his revenge.Mia Cordano was determined to stay away from her family's business. She had been the "black sheep" of the family and she liked it that way. She became a highly sought after hacker and she helped to keep people & their businesses SAFE. This wasn't the life a Mafia Princess was suppose to live. And her father was constantly angered by her choices.Mia was hired to do a job for Nico (without Nico's knowledge.) She doesn't realize who she is working for. Their families have unpleasant history. So when Nico & Mia are thrown together, it sets off a series of events that puts both families in jeopardy.This story keeps you intrigued. It has the bad mafia, dirty cops (and clean ones), hackers, enforcers, drugs, and lots of food! There is danger, kidnapping, semi-stalking, and the pushy friend!Nico wants to make things better but no one wants to follow his vision, so it puts the things that he cares about most in jeapordy. Not everyone can face the challenges that Nico & Mia had to face and those challenges may be strong enough to pull them apart (especially if her father has anything to do with it!)Definitely a must read/listen...
