It holds the heat for about 20 minutes. I needed this so I could do my physical therapy on days I wasn't at the clinic. It's comfortable and covers the area that needs covering: left hip and lower back. I will send an update in a few months to report on its durability. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent quality *by M***Y on December 31, 2018* This is one of the best things I have ever bought. I get migraines and this ice pack is a life saver for me. I keep it in the freezer and pull it out when a migraine strikes. I love that it is still flexible after being in the freezer a long time. It holds the cold longer than others I've bought. I lay this all around my head and it gives the best relief. I've bought at least 20 different ice packs and this one is my favorite. It's well made thick plastic with a good amount of product inside. It's not thin or flimsy like some others I've bought. ### ⭐⭐ I think clay should be excluded from description *by G***6 on October 17, 2018* I don’t think this is clay. I asked for clarification before buying because gel and clay are both used in the description. Maybe there is a tiny bit of clay in it, but not enough in my opinion. I also bought it for my mother because I thought it wa clay.
