DEF Idle Air Control Valve Motor IAC Replace Sierra 18-7701 and Mercruiser 862998 Fits for MerCruiser ECM 555 2001

I have changed six of these IAC valves on my boat over the years. They were made by three different manufacturers. I have kept all the bad ones and analyzed the failures. Three have had the electrical coil shorted out probably due to heat. These units must use high temperature coil wire to survive in the engine compartment. The solenoid is sealed so you can't access the coil directly but the resistance drops when they fail and that has been the case in half of them. The others have mechanical failures in the housing. The shaft fails to slide easily enough due to corrosion or dirt. There are two different designs and neither design seems to last for a long time. Modern vehicles do not use this design since it is not reliable. I keep a spare in my boat along with the allen wrench. As soon as I suspect trouble I swap it out and it only takes a few minutes. Three years is the longest any have lasted.You will know when it fails. The engine will not idle or will idle very rough but will run smooth above idle speed. These units can fail and then start working again so change it at the first sign of trouble. If changing the IAC doesn't fix the problem. Change the crank position sensor and the MAP sensor. If that doesn't work change the rotor and distributor cap. All simple changes and not too expensive.

Necesitaba esta pieza de manera urgente desafortunadamente no la encontraba por ningún lado quien diría que en Amazon la encontraría, la calidad es buena y los materiales excelentes, se instaló en un motor mercury de lancha y funciono de maravilla, la volvería a comprar sin pensarlo, cuando la recibí tuve dudas ya que venía en un empaque pequeño, pero lleva ya 2 meses en funcionamiento y no ha presentado ninguna falla.

Replaced a surging valve on one of my 496 marine engines. Fixed the issue right away.

I purchased 2 of them they arrived fine but I replaced the first one and it failed with in the first 5 minutes me running the engine. It stuck open and was idling at 1100 rpm. So I didn’t install the second one and returned both.

I bought this for my Marine 350 Mag MPI. Smartcraft error said this was defective. I bought this and installed. Presto!! Error code vanished. Boat resumed full speed. This corrected my problem. Real easy to replace. 5 minutes being in no rush.
