Oddly. Because of that, for certain body types they will fit VERY strangely. The waist is small, the hips and upper thighs are fairly roomy, and the legs are skinny. On bodies with slim hips they might end up liking like weird jodhpurs.Luckily for me, my body is such that they don't look strange on me. The hips/thighs are a little roomier than they NEED to be for me, but not to a noticeable degree. The waist is slightly large on me. USUALLY my problem is that any pants with a waist that would fit can't get up over my hips, and pants that have hips that fit are way too big in the waist. These basically straddle the line between those two problems and manage to make a happy medium, for me. If the waist were a smidge smaller, they'd be close to perfect.As for the legs they're VERY long and quite skinny. People with curvy calves might have trouble with them. I'm going to need to hem them up. I may also insert a bit of elastic in the back waist to take in the extra room there.Edited to add: After I gave these a wash, I noticed that they do have that funky odor that is common on cheaper black dyed pants/jeans in recent years. The insert lining was very comfy and it kept me warm. I bought them for my Alaska Cruise when I went on shore to my excursions. Every day we had different weather from wind, rain, snow , to sun. I have to say I never got cold on my legs. I bought long johns to keep my legs warm and I never needed them.
