PARTYSAVINGPET Palace Cat Claw Scratching Sisal Post for Kittens and Cats with Toy Mouse (19-inch), APL1345

I use this product with my now 9 month old Kitten. It is well made. She holds onto it to climb to the top. She scratches on it. She can even sit on top of it. She also plays with the attached mouse. There is nothing I don't like about it. The big bottom is a great support for the scracher. Well worth the money. The scratching surface has not frayed! I will highly recommend this product.

So far the toy is still attached to the top of the scratching post even though the kittens and their mother have all tried to pull it off. The kittens climb it often and it holds up to them fighting on the post while climbing, so it is extremely sturdy, though at this point, the kittens only weigh 5 pounds and the mother weighs 8.5 pounds. My Siamese weighs 10 pounds and has climbed it a couple times as well, but most of the time, the 3 kittens are playing on it. Because of the nice cap on top of the post, sometimes a kitten will balance on it and play king of the hill with the others trying to knock him off, so figure the post has done well with 15 pounds of antics going on at any given time. I do wish it had been sisal rope the entire length as the middle carpet section sort of teaches the kittens that it is okay to scratch carpet in my house.Update 2022-07-14: The base is too thin to support the screw holding the post, thus it is now extremely loose and sways any time one of my cats wants to use it. The sisal material is still holding up extremely well, but the base is going to need replacing simply because the fiberboard has developed a hole where it used to support the post. The only thing holding the post now is the fabric stretched across the top of the fiber board. Funny enough, the mouse is still attached. Admittedly, the cats that climb on it frequently are 11-13 pounds in size, but I have other scratching posts that continue to stand for longer than 10 years with the sisal being stripped from the post revealing bare wood. Those I can rewrap with new sisal rope, but this one is going to require a new base and figuring out how to attach the post to it.

Didn't have to add catnip or anything, our cats started using it right away. One month in and holding up so far, feels and looks like it will last a couple years anyway.

The pole part is not wood, it’s cardboard it broke within a week. The tower would fall over if my cat put her nails in it and stood up on her back legs.

I didnt expect this to be highly sturdy built. For my cats, so far, they have not used this as a scratching post but they love to sleep on the base! They curl up on post base and sleep on it. Funny. Give them time, Immsure they will start scrtching on it.For the price, I suspect it wont last for years. Then again, nothing does. Having learned and used so many products over the years, we do not want to spend more than $20 on cat toys as we know they dont last. Our cats will pee on them or soil them no matter what. Keep it simple and low cost, so we can get new toys for them. This one fits our critieria. Hence it is a winner for us.

The description of this product is accurate. It was exceptionally easy to put together, though instructions were included it could have been done without any. The post is fairly sturdy but wobbles somewhat, perhaps it if had a larger attachment to the base it would eliminate this. Overall I am satisfied with the product and it has lasted with months of scratching from out kitten.

Wish it lasted longer than a couple of months

My cat is already tearing apart the rope, but he took to it immediately. I bought this for my den/ office because he kept scratching my leather game cabinet ottoman. It worked to deter him from using my furniture and he loves to sleep on the cute, soft base. Will definitely need to replace it or the rope after a while, but for the price, I am happy with it.
