Love it
Very light and love the light to see how dirty floors are lol. Powerful and love it detects and gets stronger on its own. I originally got it for my garage and basement but tryed it also in house and it picks up better then my $600 dyson. It didn't last as long as I'd like but it did do basement garage and house area so that's good. It picked up and filled up the container with stuff dyson I guess didn't. Emptying it was very easy and don't have to worry about all the filters like on dyson. So far sinhappy and now ordering one just for house area. I love you press to start and it stays on and the handle is very comfortable and doesn't hurt my arthritis hands and fingers trying to keep button pressed. Even if it doesn't last long I would buy again. No arm or hand pains using it and so light. Big con= over 4 hrs to recharge it...

Great for daily upkeep, easy to unclog
I am a pet owner who is OCD about my floors, and I was a housekeeper for many years. I have used this vacuum for about 6 months now, and I LOVE IT. A few things I want to point out: First of all, with any cordless vacuum you are not going to get the same power or suction as a corded vacuum, period. Manage your expectations - you are trading suction power for the convenience of having no cord. Cordless vacuums are great for quick, daily upkeep in between your full cleaning days (where you should be using a regular corded vacuum). I got this vacuum because we recently got a bunny, and therefore introduced a lot of hay - and a LOT more fur - into our home. This thing picks up anything and everything, and works great on our hardwood, low pile rugs, and high pile carpeted bedrooms. We use it every evening for at least 10 or 15 minutes straight on the high setting, and it doesn't run out of juice. Some of my favorite things about it: 1) It is easy to unclog. As an ex housekeeper, this is everything to me. Like I said, we use this mainly to pick up hay that our rabbit has scattered around. Inevitably, long bits of hay will get wrapped around the brush and cause a clog. We know and expect this to happen, considering the abuse we put this thing through. This vacuum has a simple, effective design that makes it easy to take apart and clean/unclog. The brush easily detaches with a button on the side of the head, and you can look down the neck to spot where the clog is. Since most people aren't vacuuming hay on the regular, you really shouldn't need to take this vacuum apart often. But if you need to, its nice to not spend hours fussing around, unscrewing parts, cursing like a sailor, and watching YouTube videos on how to put your vacuum together again. The design of this vacuum really is so simple and user friendly. 2) It DOES stand up on its own. You just need to make sure you hear a click sound when you move the neck and handle to the upright position. 3) It's very lightweight. I don't get fatigued using it or carrying it around. 4) Good battery life. I am able to use this on the high setting for a quick once over of my entire ~1300 sq ft. home (with hardwoods, rugs, and carpets) before I need to recharge. If you have a larger home, again, manage your expectations. 5) The handheld option and attachment is very convenient. I love to use it for sucking up the dust and dead bugs that get stuck in the tracks of our windows and sliding glass door. My not-so-favorite things about it: 1) The low setting is basically useless. Even on hardwood floors, it doesn't seem to do much. I always go immediately to the high setting. 2) The dust cup falls forward when you press the button to remove it. The first time you do it, it will feel like the thing practically jumps out to attack you. Just remember to have one hand on the clear canister part when you press the release button. It's really not a big deal, but it did surprise me the first time I went to empty it. Overall its a great little vacuum. Perfect for our evening tidying up before we go to bed, and its a quick and easy grab for random spills/messes. For a deeper, more thorough clean I will always rely on my corded Shark vacuum. For literally everything else, this B&D cordless vac is a winner. 10/10. You don't need to break the bank on a Dyson, I promise. If you have one really good cordless vac (this one), and one really good corded vac (I recommend the Shark Navigator Lift-Away), you won't need anything else.

OUTSTANDING vacuum
Had my doubt about a cordless init that cost 99.00, but...it proved me wrong!! Greatest cordless I've ever used under 100.00 and 2 speeds as well. It also senses if it needs to increase suction and does it AUTOMATICALLY! I thought my carpet needed cleaning but it needed a deep down cleaning. It pulled all the pet hair out and did a fabulous job doing it. B&D always made a good product for the value, and this was no different! Lightweight and efficient. I'm in a wheelchair and it was the perfect vacuum that does what it says!!! It totally filled the external debris bin and it worked so well that I should have emptied it within minutes of starting to vacuum. It pulled so well that it had hair in the tube. Once I emptied the bin, I reattached the bin and turned it on...and it pulled all the hair up and out of the tube and into the bin. I cant say enough about the power and suction that this little unit has. The only thing I wish it had was a larger debris bin, but that is just something I noticed...but expected to empty it more often, but it's easy and conveniently located. Also the cyclonic filter needs only a quick wash by hand and let dry. Amazing unit! CONS: Biggest drawback is a small opening into the debris cannister. The opening tends to plug rapidly which then allows hair to build up and backup into the tube. It must be cleared after a short period , if pet hair is being vacuumed. Without a shedding animal, it works well. B&D needs to desperately address this issue.

I am in love!
We are a household of three, 2 adults and a 4 year old. We also have 2 cats. We live in a small apartment that's 97% carpet and we've had the same vacuum for years and it finally bit the dust. I wanted something small and compact, making this guy catch my eye. It's so easy to assemble which was a major plus. It's small but mighty as well! The suction works amazing and it's easy to detach and turn handheld to get on the couch and between the cushions! The charge will normally last for the whole house but I've noticed if I'm doing a full deep clean and getting deep into crevices and moving stuff, it'll lady bout half the apartment before I need to charge it again. I do have to dump it after every high traffic room but that's partly from the cat hair. It works well on hard surfaces as well. I still personally go over with a broom after because it does occasionally fling the dirt to the side. It also will go down 100% flat and still work, making it easy to do some under bed vacuuming!

Good suction, maneuverable, very small dirt receptacle, speed control problems
I was never thrilled with the first one of these that I bought years ago (review below) but it was okay for my needs. When the suction ceased after 3 years or so I read reviews on quite a few other cordless vacs and all seemed to have about 15% bad reviews, the kind where people return it ow throw it away. Probably this is due to poor quality control in overseas factories that really could care less about the end user. Black and Decker also had about that percentage of bad reviews so I thought, "Since it's a crapshoot, might as well take my chances on the one I am familiar with." Given all that, you would think I would have unboxed it and tried it out immediately but no, things happened and today when I tried it and found it wanting, it is ten days past the return period. So into the trash it goes, that is how bad the suction is. It was fully charged, had never been used so can't be plugged up, and won't pick up inch long bits of dried grass on a smooth floor, or almost invisible bits of dog fur, and won't pick up much of anything on a deep pile carpet. Instead of removing the visible bits of detritus, the vacuum carries it around so that when it is turned off and lifted up, there is the stuff on the floor. I used my handheld Black and Decker vac (five stars for it, I am on my third one I think) to follow behind the stick vac and collect the bits of grass, dog fur, and tiny bits of dried leaves. Did I just get one of the 15% of duds? Well, since it's past its return date, I don't get another chance. ABOVE IS REVIEW FOR ONE I BOUGHT IN JAN 2026 to replace the first one. BELOW IS REVIEW FOR THE FIRST ONE, WHICH WAS adequate and lasted about 3 years. My first review said it came without a charger and I wanted to return it. My fault, later found charger in the packaging. Sorry, Amazon! Pros: โManeuverable for angles, able to put it under most furniture โI like the light which shows me the efficiency with which it gets dust and fur, and it is quite good at that. โFor getting corners and next to baseboards I give it a 7 out of 10. About a quarter of the time I had to make a second try. โNot heavy, but see below about weight distribution. โInitially I found the auto-acceleration of power disconcerting. But it's okay. It also seems to self-adjust to carpet vs bare floor, and to depth of carpet. No complaints about suction power on either type of floor. Watch out, it will suck in carpet fringe quick as a wink. I did have to stop once and cut threads, possibly from the fringe, that had wound around the roller. I've never had a beater-bar vac that didn't have this problem so no big deal. Cons: โVery small dirt receptacle if you have, for example, a lot of dog hair. Also, I find the receptacle easy to remove for emptying but hard to snap back in. โMy sinuses reported that a bunch of dust was bypassing the filter and getting back into the air. โBalks at tiny stones that my dog brings in between her toes. โThe user's manual is totally inadequate: tiny print on flimsy paper (print is so tiny you would think they were printing it on something rare and valuable like gold leaf); exploded diagram showing parts and controls is on one page then you turn the page to find out about them; I ended up photocopying the diagram so I could look at it side by side with the inadequate picture "directions". โDesign suggestion: the device is heavier at the top of the handle, where one holds it, and if more weight were put lower down it would be more balanced and less heavy to operate. Total weight isn't that much but bad weight distribution makes it seem like more. โBattery lasted for 2/3 of my medium sized house which is okay with me, I usually get tired before getting the whole house vacuumed, and come back to it later. For similar reasons, I don't much care about speed of recharge, as long as it's within 3 hours, and I haven't checked on that yet. Summary: Adequate so far. These are made as cheap limited-life appliances. Short of paying $600 for a rechargeable vac, we have little recourse. Maybe our reviews will help, if they influence sales. Another reality of modern cheap manufacturing, I believe, is poor quality control, which is why for some products most people give reviews of "adequate to great" while a minority say that it fell apart after an hour, the parts don't fit together, the battery wears out after 10 minutes, etc. Knock on wood, mine wasn't made on Monday and it may work adequately for a year or more. That is all I feel I can expect. ================ ADDED after further use. Speed control problem The suction power has two speeds that are controlled either automatically or by the user, and for me the design of this is very flawed. The user-control method is that the on-off switch has not 2 but 3 states: Click once to turn it from off to on, and then while it is running if you click again you get the higher speed, click another time to turn it off. If you've accidentally vacuumed up some rug fringe or a light-weight floor mat, so it's caught up in the vacuum, you go to turn the thing off and it just goes faster so sucking the fabric up even worse. There is no way to go from low speed directly to off. The automatic control is even more troublesome to me, because some things on my floor need to be vacuumed at the lower speed so as not to catch up fringes and mats as mentioned above (My doors to the outside have extremely low floor clearance so I have had to find very thin door mats). But as I vacuum, the machine will decide that this task needs higher speed, it will increase the power, and suddenly my Ruggable mat, about the thickness of corrugated cardboard, has been sucked up and the whirling bar is jammed. It happens with mats thicker than Ruggable too, the kind of small washable rugs that you vacuum from front to back while standing on them to hold them in place. I see no need for automatic speed increase, and the manual speed increase should be separate from the on/off process. Same with rug fringe, at low speed I can run the vac quickly over the area next to the fringe and not get the fringe tangled in the revolving bar, but suddenly the auto-control decides to put it into high gear. This tangling isn't good for the rugs, and the sudden stopping isn't good for the machine. Sometimes I wonder if the manufacturers ever put these new designs into the hands of ordinary people, in various household situations, for long enough, and then do they listen to the feedback they get. I don't think so! And the result is that the user has to adapt to the machine because no way to know that a different brand wouldnโt have equally significant failings. I'd like to see product descriptions like this: "In designing our new cordless vac we surveyed a thousand users in detail about their current vacuums, strong points and failings; we designed accordingly; and then we put a small run of the new model into the hands of ordinary users for 3 months, and made adjustments once more based on their reports. Here are some of the users' comments specific to what they found to be the pros and cons. Without effective engineering for real-world users, we are often stuck with products that are the lesser of two evils: short battery life or speed controls that destroy your rugs; shoddy construction or bad ergonomics leading to backache; and so on. Once they've got our money they really couldnโt care less, it seems.

Great little vac to have in addition to your whole-house workhorse vac
I just got mine, and it is excellent for my intended purpose. If you're looking for a vacuum to do your whole house....keep looking....that's not it's intended use. I got mine just to have a light, quick, touchup vac in the laundry and kitchen area. It's a very, very good handheld vac on a stick (with a handy crevice attachment) and I love that I can use it for that, AND for light floor/area rug vacuuming. It takes a while for a full charge, but worth it to be able to tote it around and touch up places, including stairs....so the cordless feature it 100% worth having it charge overnight. And even if it doesn't last for more than a few years, I will have gotten my money's worth.

Great vacuum and a great price.
We have 5 animals and I bought this vacuum to use between the big cleanings. I feel like I have to vacuum every other day, and I gotta say, this thing is a work horse! It goes everywhere, floors, rugs, couches, and under places. Whats also a nice feature is it seems to sense when it is on tile and hard wood and when its on rugs, which is cool. I'm really glad I bought this and would totally get it again.

Don't Hesitate (or Wait), Like Me, to Purchase This Vacuum!
****UPDATE as of July 2024- Sad news. My sweet vacuum only last a year (almost to the date). I didn't buy the extra insurance as I got such a great price I may have said something like "at this price if it lasts a year I've gotten my moneys worth!" Certainly not really thinking it' going to break. Specifically what happened was the roller brush bar cap (thats the little grey round attachment at the end of the brush bar that helps it sit/cradle in the vacuum) came off somewhere. Ironically I loved that it was removable brush bar for cleaning. Across my research I've found most others had a situation where that same piece melted to the brush bar. I am ordering a replacement piece and contacting Black + Decker. Also a different branded vacuum arrives today. So, do with that what you wish, but I was bummed . . . . **UPDATE- I said I'd add my comments about the mini vac & attachments once I've used so here I am... it works excellently just as the main Vacuum. It's also powerful unlike other handhelds that come apart + the attachment is sturdy and doesn't take away from the power either. Additional quick comment b/c it's now been used many times and still doesn't disappoint. Get this vacuum! *** I've been doing decent amounts of research on stick vacuums off & on for about a year now. My Mom purchaaed a Dyson and I immediately had a little bit of Dyson envy! Yes, i know this a Black & Decker review, I'm getting there.... the Dysons swivel head technology was the draw but also the amount it got up with little effort. To each is own, but for me, $500 on a vacuum wasn't happening. I looked into the 3 main features I just listed (swivel, ease & suckage), along with needing & wanting cordless and the mini vac option. This vacuum has all of that and so much more! It's filter is a good size and is placed on the front part of the stick as to have the convenience of getting under furniture, while still being easy to empty. There's a feature that detects rug or non rug automatically & switches accordingly, making that also convenient. It is not loud at all. It took 4.5 hrs to charge completely (all the while I impatiently kept checking). The amount of dust this vacuum sucked up and in only a few minutes, was not only astonishing but embarrassing as well. I'm a bit of a clean freak, so, I'm beyond impressed... The lights are a key design and seriously bright. Enough to use with little or no light as you would need for a quick spill clean up. This is all for the price of $100! I definitely recommend and suggest you purchase it! * I haven't had a chance to use the mini vac, but I will tomw and I'll update this review then.

This is the vacuum you want!
I cannot say enough good things about the Black and Decker cordless vacuum. I purchased the older model in 2024 and have loved it. I wanted a 2nd cordless vacuum for the 2nd floor and thought I would try more expensive models to see if they were even better than this one - I purchased the Shark Pet cordless vacuum from Costco, and also a Monsga cordless vacuum off Amazon, and had to return them both. These other vacuums were 2-3x the cost of this Black and Decker vacuum and did not work nearly as well. I was able to test that by vacuuming the 2nd floor carpeted hallway using the Monsga; and then went over it with the older Black and Decker model. It is not a large area - maybe a total of 12 x 16 feet; and the Black and Decker completed filled the dustbin cup AFTER the Monsga already vacuumed. Without question I ordered the newest version of the Black and Decker vacuum (July 2025) and am so happy that I did. For context, I own 8 cats; one dog; have multiple people living in my house and like to keep everything as clean as possible. The central vacuum is too heavy and annoying with the long hose to lug out frequently, so this cordless vacuum makes all the difference and is easy to grab and move around. It does a GREAT job of picking up pet hair and all sorts of dirt. If you leave it on the automatic setting (which is the setting it is on when you turn it on) then the suction adjusts between low-high depending on the surface you are vacuuming. I usually just turn it on high for maximum results. Because I'm often just doing one floor of my house at a time I have never run into issues with battery life. Emptying the dustbin cup is easier than other vacuum models as well - you just remove the cup and empty; flick the sponge filter a few times to get out dust; and then put the dustbin cup back in the vacuum. The sponge filter is easy to rinse and dry which is recommended that you do frequently. The other vacuums required unlocking the upper vacuum from the lower part of the vacuum otherwise the dustbin cover could not be opened. It was cumbersome to lug the entire top of the vacuum to the garbage and seemed pointless to have to add this step. Also - the light on the front of the Black and Decker vacuum is so handy for seeing dirt on floors; and also if you didn't turn the room light on before you started vacuuming! I am receiving zero commission or kickbacks for my review- I just love this vacuum so much I want others to enjoy it too! Don't waste money on more expensive models. For transparency, I have never used a Dyson - I cannot justify spending that much on a vacuum so if that is in your budget I cannot weigh in. One drawback with all vacuums that is true for this one is that it does not provide suction along the edge; so you have to go back with the crevice tool if you want to get the edges of a room. But none of the other cordless vacuums (or my central vac for that matter) are able to clean along the edges so this is more a beef with all vacuums.

Battery is ๐๐ผ
The light is a great addition as you can literally see the dirt. However itโs almost impossible to vacuum fluffy carpets and the battery literally lasts for maximum 10min. I would choose a better brand if you ask me now.
