This item failed after 15 months. TP-Link offer a two year guarantee so no problem right? Wrong, the vendor is an absolute joke and just says that the Amazon policy only covers returns up to 30 days and I must contact the manufacturer. TP-Link say that as I bought it from a Bulgarian vendor I must resolve it with them (I tried no chance). They also say and I quote: "Also, TP-Link does not provide international warranty service. Your TP-Link product is only covered by the warranty policy of the country where the product was originally purchased. If you need to ship your product back to the country where you originally purchased the product for warranty services, you will need to pay for both ways of the shipping fees." So essentially forget any thought of returning under a two year warranty you have 30 days and good luck with that from these two companies who are running a "who is the slipperiest" contest. Do not buy or do so hoping you have no issues.

Easy to set up, worked. Such powerline extenders are a bit of an unpredictable gamble, working in some environments and not others, so it's good to buy from Amazon in case it needs to be returned. In this case the product, which has a two year warranty, worked fine to extend a 35 Mbps network without any speed slowdown through a hundred feet of ethernet cord and then two hundred feet of household electrical wiring, including passing through two electrical panel (breaker) boxes, which is something they definitely do not guarantee. (I don't know if it would work if we had a faster internet plan. In this case it replaces a WiFi extender which worked but had reduced speed due to obstacles and was prone to disconnecting video meetings, possibly due to microwave interference.)

Works as intended over the 120V AC to deliver Ethernet signal from my house to our outdoor shed-office. I haven't run a speed test, but we can stream music and perform Zoom/Teams calls with no interruption or lag. Has a wired Ethernet port on the far end as well as the WiFi. Easy to set up and could be plug & play if you use as-is with no modifications to the SSID configuration. Configuration is easy with a web-based GUI interface. WiFI has both 5GHz and 2.4GHz frequencies. The challenges you might face are not with this product specifically, but with the type of integration. The WiFi will have a separeate SSID name. You can assign it the same as your other networks, but it would probably be better to name it something different so that you can see what WiFi you are connected to. We found that sometimes our laptops hold on to the SSID from the main house and we have to disconnect and re-connect to the shed office WiFi. If the networks were using the same SSID name & password, it wouldn't be apparrent as to what the connectivity problem is or what network we were connected to. ***IMPORTANT**** This needs to be installed into outlets that are on the same leg (side) of the circuit breaker box in your house. In other words, the breakers that control the circuits for the outlets that you are using to extend the signal need to be on the same side of your circuit breaker panel (left or right). The signal will not traverse a split panel side installation. (I suspect that this has to do with most breaker boxes having 2 hot wires coming in from the street with 1 hot feeding each side of the box.)

I am so glad I bought this thing. I had no idea whether or not it would work for my situation. Even after reading lots of reviews, I still wasn’t sure, but I’m glad I bought it anyway. I will share what I used it for so hopefully it helps someone else who’s on the fence: I converted my shed in the backyard to a studio/office, and needed a way to get wifi out there - for internet, and also so the smart lock would stop showing up as “not responding” (for the lock I needed 2.4ghz, which is one reason why I chose this product). The part I wasn’t sure about was whether or not the shed needed to be on the same circuit as the Telus modem in the house. The shed is on a separate sub-panel altogether. I can happily report that it works. And it works quite well. I will say the initial setup was not as seamless as some other customers have reported…I had some issues “cloning” the network username and password to match my existing one, and that is partly because my Telus router does not have a “WPS” button. Because i have no WPS button, I had to perform many extra steps which involved a computer and consulting the user manual of the Telus router. Important note: while you are pairing everything and going the setup process, make sure the unit IS plugged into the same circuit as your internet modem. Once successfully paired and cloned, then you can move the device to wherever you want - which is what I did. Initially when I plugged it in out there, I didn’t think it was working, because some of the lights didn’t come back on. But I gave it a minute and they came on. My smart lock seemed to have a good connection, so that was good - but I wanted to know for sure it was actually working. So I took my laptop out there and plugged it directly into the unit via a LAN cable. And it worked! This direct method actually turned out to be my favourite feature. Now I can plug in directly and have a super reliable connection while working from home, plus I get the wireless signal for my phone, smart lock and cameras! Overall a great product. This was the perfect solution and I’m so glad I didn’t go with a wireless repeater type extender instead.
