Dole Fruit Bowls Red Grapefruit Sunrise in 100% Juice, Gluten Free Healthy Snack, 4 Oz, 24 Total Cups

This was really great for ready-to-eat shelf-stable grapefruit. The ingredient list was the cleanest I could find - no added sugar, no carmine or other icky additives - and the taste was fantastic. This was a regular staple in my house. Seriously, I bought it by the case. ALL. THE. TIME. Unfortunately, Dole has decided to discontinue it. Really a poor decision on their part!! I can't find another shelf-stable alternative that's anywhere near this clean. Dole, if you're reading this, please bring this back!!

Okay I’m a fruit lover and thinking it should be part of a wholesome natural “whole food” diet, try to get at least a few servings daily with the thinking that where our diets concerned, very often it’s not what I’m eating as much as what I’m not otherwise eating instead. With that being said, it’s not always easy (nor cheap) getting, storing, peeling, cutting, and otherwise preparing fresh fruit keeping in mind that many fruits are seasonal, don’t grow in all areas, and generally have limited shelf life before becoming over-ripe or rotten. So these cups are a great supplement to what fresh food I can get.As with any packaged and stored product however, it’s never as good as the fresh item itself. These do have a unique taste to them that I can’t identify. It’s not spoiled, chemical, or from the fruit itself that I can tell, just that it’s not in any grapefruit or other fruit that I’ve had and just takes getting used to.For sure the bigger issue I’ve run into with this and all the other fruit cups is that being packed full with juice, it’s practically impossible to pull the plastic sheet open without getting the juice squirt on you, or away from you on the floor or wherever you’re at once you’ve been squirt on. It’s probably not the biggest problem around yet it would be cool if this wasn’t the case.

This package arrived more quickly than I expected. However, when it arrived, the package looked like it was battered, it was very warm, and at least one of the packets within had leaked a bit. I've opened three fruit cups from two different packs and they are all spoiled. Even though they don't expire for another half year, the color of the grapefruit in all the cups looks off/old, and they ones I tasted all taste spoiled. It was convenient to buy so many of these at the same time, and for a good price, but it was a waste of my money in the end. I'm just going to throw them all away and not bother trying to send them back.

Dole Red Grapefruit has a taste that’s surprisingly fresh. It doesn’t have any aftertaste that’s so common with many processed, ready to eat fruits. Since it’s sealed in individual plastic serving containers, it doesn’t have a metallic taste like canned fruit often does. I’ve never had any problems with the product itself but on a couple of occasions, the Dole shipping box arrived with some of the plastic containers ruptured and making a rancid mess. After rinsing off the remaining containers, everything was fine. They obviously got handled a little rough during shipping but overall I’ve been pleased with the other orders that arrived in perfect condition. I would highly recommend Dole Red Grapefruit.
