There are 3 different buttons. One that gives your dog a beeping warning. Second you press the vibration button to again warn them and finally the zapper! We only had to push that button on two seperate walks. Our dog now knows the beep is her warning to act like a good dog. There is a control for adjusting the amount of shock.
