Quality of ingredients vs price-point
This product displays itself as being gourmet - but it’s actually sea salt, potato starch, some soy, sunflower and rapeseed oil with some herbs and spices. Very sad, for a price like this and the “Swiss”-claim I expected something like Rapunzel Organic. But it’s not!!! Ingredients: Sea Salt Potato starch Hydrolysed vegetable protein (containing soy) Vegetable oil (sunflower, rapeseed) Vegetables 7% (onion, parsnip, carrot, leek) Celery seed Parsley Turmeric White pepper Garlic Mace Lovage Nutmeg Per 100gr: Salt 43.8% Carbohydrate 30.6% Fat 9.3% Protein 9.6% Therefor I presume 43.8% sea salt, 30% potato, 9.3% fat, protein 9.6%, 7% vegetables, leaving 7.3% for Celery seed, Parsley, Turmeric, White pepper, Garlic, Mace, Lovage, Nutmeg. What a disappointment to me!

Excellent product, exactly as described, it is expensive but doesn’t contain yeast extract which is exactly what I needed. Will buy again. Only issue the packet had been opened by border security

Bien pour soup dans un bol, don du goût dans une sauce, casserole à légume ou viande. Très pratiques.

This is a very practical and versatile pantry staple that I’ve been purchasing for around five years now. The flavour is savoury and well-balanced without tasting artificial. It has a clean vegetable depth rather than an overly synthetic stock-cube taste. Because it’s a powder, you can control how concentrated or diluted you want it to be, which is one of the reasons I prefer it over cubes. You can make a light broth or a stronger, richer base depending on what you need. I personally prefer the standard salt content version. The salt level works well for my needs, and because it’s in powder form, I can easily adjust the strength by adding more or less. I use it in soups, stews, sauces, and also add it directly to rice in the rice cooker for extra flavour. I regularly dissolve it in hot water and drink it as a simple savoury broth when I want something warm but not heavy. It dissolves quickly without clumping and blends smoothly. With normal cooking use, the tub lasts a long time. Recently I’ve used it more frequently, so I went through it faster — but that reflects increased usage rather than poor value. The 500g size is generous. The tub is convenient for storage and allows accurate scooping, which I find more practical than cubes when measuring specific amounts. Ingredient-wise, I appreciate that it’s vegan and free from artificial additives. It feels like a straightforward, reliable product. Overall, flavourful, flexible, and consistently good — which is why I’ve continued repurchasing it for years.

I used Marigold Swiss Bouillon powder for many years when I lived in Scotland and was distressed that I could not find it in the U.S. Fortunately, The Yummy Palette in the U.K. carries Marigold and ships to the States by courier so I have the package in less than a week. After trying many other “stock cubes” and “instant stock pastes”, I can say that there is NO comparison with Marigold. I cook all my rice, pasta, grains such as quinoa and farro in it by adding about tablespoon to the boiling water. No need to add additional salt to the recipe then. The wonderful fragrance while cooking, has none of the metallic smell of cheap stock cubes. Several British chefs have advised that if you can’t make your own stock, use Marigold Swiss Bouillon. I agree!
