Alternating is good to use your body bilaterally to ensure healthy ergonomics. The sizing is great also for a smaller baby. I told the new mom if she learned to use and love it, to buy a bigger slling for her baby when larger. This one is perfect for a new mom/baby pair and will cultivate ease and success. I loved that I could carefully slide out of a sling by settting my baby into a carseat or their bed and leave the sling in place as a blanket --all without disturbing them!
