desertcartia Light, a new addition to the Aqua Soil lineup, has been developed as a substrate material that even newcomer aquascapers can easily use. Although made from the same natural soil as the base material, this new soil has different color and properties from the conventional type of desertcartia soil. It is characterized as natural earth color substrate and contains natural Japanese plant-based black soil that sufficiently promotes the growth of aquatic plants while maintaining crystal clear water. Review: Good Dirt - Perfect product! Plants are a little hard to plant in, but piling a little mound on my plants works fine for me so far. Iโm sure once the plant roots grow out more, the looseness shouldnโt be an issue. It was more than enough for my 10 gallon tank, in fact I didnโt use 1/4 of the dirt, which is great, because now I have enough dirt for an aquatic plant nursery! Review: A cheaper product of ADA but it does not lack ... - A cheaper product of ADA but it does not lack the quality it proclaims. I have been using ADA for 3+ years now, and it has never failed me. I used this product to make a dry start method planted tank with dwarf hair grass. The result is stunning. The color of this product is also a bit more natural in my opinion. I think for the future planted tank, I would go with this instead of the black one.

Great for plants
Plants thrive in this no question just do yourself a favor and let this sit fin tank for two weeks and do several water changes in that time like every day the first week and every other the second it has so much organic mater in it it sends amonia levels threw the roof and that will kill your fish if you take your time its well worth it in the end but don't get impatient or you will kill your fish or shrimp

Love the lighter color
3 bags were enough for my 55 gallon, but I wish I had 1 more. The lighter color is great and I added it with water in the tank, didnโt take but 20 minutes for the water to clear up. Plants so far seem to like it, we will see long term how it goes.

Little pricey but works the best.
Works well at keeping the PH leaning acidic. I mixed one bag with 2 bags of flourite dark for a 55gallon aquarium. The plants and fish are flourishing. I do think the price is high for the amount you get. But it definatly works better than other brands i have tried.

Great plant substrate
This provides a great substrate for plants. I have it as a cover over my sand substrate. The catfish love it as it does not damage their barbels and they can move it around in their search for food and places to hide.

Soil
It's good soil, if you prewash it, it won't muek up your water. Even if you don't pre wash it the water settles quickly
