Magic soil
So these two jades were languishing in another cactus mix. I usually make my own mix using coir, perlite, bark, and maybe pumice or zeolite. But for some reason, it just wasn’t helping these cuttings, and I am pretty good at rooting pretty much anything.I finally broke down and ordered this mix I had been eyeing for a while. It is kind of like magic lol. It’s just light and fluffy and clean and pretty and lovely, everything a mix aspires to be but never truly becomes. This stuff rooted these jades lightening fast and made them fat and pretty. Mind you, the ones in the photo are in need of watering—so imagine how much better they will look after the watering.I also used this on various other succulents and regular houseplants. It wins every time.So something you might want to know: there is a bit of a learning curve with this mix if you are not a coco coir user. I use only coir, and I’ve used every possible grade of it from fine to croutons, and I struggled at first a bit.The consistency and texture is just like nothing I’ve ever felt before. It’s super fine and soft like cotton almost. But it holds a LOT of water, and the difference between this stuff wet and dry is pretty profound. It can be hard to translate in your head how much to use dry because once it’s wet, the consistency changes. And it never feels wet!It is like someone took a sponge made out of silk, crushed it up into fine pieces, and added some teeny little particles like stones and perlite. You can water it forever and not drown the plant —UNLESS YOU REALLY COMMIT TO IT. And even then, you’d have to bring a lunch.I can’t offer any advice other than trial and error and reading up on coir. But I do know this mix is excellent and so worth the effort.I wish they would sell more at a time so I could just take out a loan and buy a bushel. I hate to use it because I know it will run out soon. Anyway, it’s an expense I’m adding to my Plant Wellness Fund, and I’m buying it as it is in triple orders.Highly recommended:).

White mold.
Not happy with this soil. I reported three of my plants - succulents. The soil has a light/ soil like texture, thick but yet airy. This seemed all too familiar, actually fer like peat moss and for anyone who knows succulents- IS A NO GO. Trusting the reviews I went with it, reported and didn’t water... not yet at least. Three - four days go by and I gave my plants a sprinkle... next thing you know I have mold. Back to bonsai jack.

Perfect soil
This is the best soil, I’ve found for succulent success. Quick draining and fertile. My plants love it. This is my second order and I plan on ordering more in the future. Highly recommend this soil. Fat Plants also send a personal message from her upon opening the box. That makes me really happy and feel like I am valuable.

Gallon bags are short by 4 cups!!
The one gallon bag should contain 16 cups; however, it only contains 12 cups so you’re getting ripped off. I emailed and called the seller, Fat Plants, and got no response. The actual soil looks good but, you’re not getting the amount you pay for. I bought two bags and both were short by 4 cups each, totaling a half gallon which they sell for $11.95!!

Fantastic, well-draining soil mix.
This soil is fantastic. It has soil, small-medium sized pumice, what I'm guessing is fertilizer, and some fibrous material. It doesn't have super tiny particles (unless you mess with it too much), stones, or bark, which were in all the mass-marketed brands I've seen. Water drains quickly through this soil, perhaps too fast for my non-succulent-but-still-dry plant, and it didn't come with any bugs or other problems. This was a great buy for lazy me that didn't want to mix my own soil. That said, the average particle size is smaller than probably what you'd get if you mixed some more rocks into your own mix, so if you were to mess around and compact this soil too much it would lose its porousness and become useless for succulents. That might be worth noting if you're making an outdoor bed-this soil has suited my potted plants so far.

I had recently subscribed to a monthly succulent subscription so I knew I would need soil. I used to use regular potting soil, but after realizing that was the reason I killed so many before, I decided to do some research. I had read about others having bugs in them so I was nervous. This soil is pricey, but after seeing how well it works and how well my succulents look, I won't use any other soil. It is definitely worth the money!

Love my new soil
High quality soil that arrived quickly via priority mail, shipped directly from Fat Plants San Diego. Love that my 2 gallons of soil came packaged in 4 separate, smaller, resealable bags that were then inside the shipping box. Highly recommend both this item and the seller.
