It's a gorgeous piece of art and one of the nicest spindles I've ever used. It's both beautiful and practical. The solid weight of the rosewood makes spinning easy. And the smooth finish prevents the snags I experience on lesser quality spindles. The only issue I have (and it's pretty major...) --> The notches on the lotus flower are hardly useful for holding yarn. I wish I'd purchased the "Harmony" version. I'll be taking my Dremel tool to the lotus flower to add my own notch. Despite the design flaw of not having a good notch, this is my new favorite drop spindle. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't recommend a better drop spindle for beginners..... *by S***B on Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2016* I am just learning to spin my own yarn and bought another spindle at a LYS. While it is nice, it isn't anywhere close to this weight and size. In my opinion a heavier drop spindle is so much easier to learn on. I love the fact that this spindle is so much larger as well since the yarn I wand up spinning is a variation of bulky to almost lace weight which I'm fine with, but it gives me more room for more yarn! You just can't go wrong with more yarn IMHO! I haven't tried very many spindles and only have used a drop spindle but this one is by far the best I've tried. I can't recommend a better drop spindle for beginners, and I would imagine experienced spinners would love this one too! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Very nicely made! *by C***I on Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2017* I watched a couple of you-tube videos on spinning with a drop spindle and decided to give it a try. I am a felt crafter, so I already had wool on hand. The first afternoon's efforts yield enough yarn to knit almost a square foot of soft fabric. It's fairly easy to take it slow and make sure the twist is even. After spinning up a couple of hanks, I used the drop spindle again to (reverse spin) them into two-ply yarn.I probably could have come up with something home-made for the spindle, but this was very nicely made with a smooth finish that doesn't snag on the wool.
