Battery arrived in a sealed package, charged to about 60% capacity right out of the box. Not sure if this was done by the manufacturer or this is a used product.So far it's charging well and holding charge as expected.The only two flaws:1. Unlike the original Dell battery, this one does NOT have an LED indicator that shows how full the battery is (see pics). Instead, that window is just a blank black plastic space. The only way to see how much charge is left is to have the battery installed and look at the battery icon on the taskbar that shows the percentage of charge. If this is your backup battery, you won't be able to tell how empty or full it is without being mounted on your laptop.2. Rubber pads on the bottom fell off within the first couple of days. Not a huge deal but should not have happened. Will try super glue as a permanent fix.

I only wish they would design all such products in a way that the actual cells could be easily replaced. As with all such products it can only be as good as the parts it is made from. Since this is a low-priced replacement, of course it will likely be constructed using low-priced parts. That said, my testing has shown the battery will last about one hour or a bit more once unplugged. Since the battery it is replacing would die *immediately* on being unplugged, this battery at least allows limited portability. Just don't buy this product thinking it will be as good as an OEM, truth is it is not even as good as my previous non-OEM replacements.Pro-tip: While doing some research I found out that leaving a laptop plugged in 24/7 will actually cause the battery to fail more quickly, and this is true regardless of the quality of the battery itself. With that in mind I am unplugging the laptop at least once a week while in use, allowing the battery to drain to 30% or so before plugging it back in. It seems this normal cycling should help me to maximize the occasional portability I need from this machine.

Great replacement

When shopping for a laptop battery, you need to familiarize yourself with the different options. I just wanted a battery that would allow me to watch an entire movie without needing to be recharged. This battery lasts about 3 hours for MY laptop. If your laptop draws more juice than mine, it might not last as long for you. If you are playing online games, you might want a longer-lasting battery. For my needs, this is perfect! It lasts longer than the battery that came with my laptop. I also like that it has little bumps on the bottom which give the whole laptop a little lift at the back, allowing some airflow underneath the laptop itself. My last battery (by Dell) did not have this feature. The price is great on this item, too. I shopped around and am confident that this was the best battery and price for my needs. I am thinking about buying a 2nd one or a longer lasting battery from same seller (Dekcell) for travel purposes.

I was surprised to find a replacement battery for my laptop since it's an older model. I was very happy that it didn't cost me a fortune either. The battery fits well and was easy to install and started charging right away. I'm not sure about battery life yet, since I don't usually have the laptop unplugged. I wasn't happy with the packaging, when I received the battery, the battery itself was outside of the box it was supposed to be packed in and the shipping box was much larger than the battery inside, without much bubble wrap to protect the battery inside the box, so I'm sure it bounced around a bit during transit. Overall, pretty satisfied with the battery.
