Had several types of hard drives containing files I needed. Old laptop drives, old desktop drives, and a Mac drive in a FireWire external enclosure.I connected three types of drives to a Windows 11 machine using this device - 3.5”IDE, 2.5”IDE, 2.5”SATA. All three worked flawlessly. It took about 5-10 seconds for each drive to show up on the Win11 box.Note that I only read files from each HD. Did not write any files.The adapter was plugged into a USB 3.0 port in my windows box and that yielded pretty fast transfer rates.Regarding the Mac FireWire drive, this was just a 3.5”IDE drive inside a FireWire enclosure. I removed the drive from the enclosure, connected it to this adapter, loaded HFSExplorer on my windows box, and was able to recover all the files from the Mac formatted HD.As others have mentioned, connecting a 3.5”IDE drive is a bit tight with the power cable. I found it easier to connect the power cable first between the adapter and the drive, then connect the IDE connector on the drive to the adapter.I thought it’s a nice touch that the adapter has three lights, each corresponding to one of the three connectors, giving you a positive indication the drive is powered.I connected it to 5 different HDs in a single day and had no issues. Cannot comment on longer term durability.Note that this is not a HD enclosure - only an adapter. If you are looking to turn an internal HD into a permanent external hard drive, this is not the product for you.

Works EXACTLY as described! I was able to recover many files from a hard-drive on a damaged laptop. I now use it to piggy-back a 18gb Sata drive for additional system storage. This thing paid for itself its first use! I highly recommend this item and I would definitely purchase again if needed.

This hard drive reader solved my problem. Without it, I could not access the files on my old IDE Hard drive. The directions were simple and the product work perfectly. Highly recommend!

Arrived on time and works just fine. Had old IDE Drives and some SATA. Was able to get all the info from the drives I wanted.

Though the product was much more expensive than several others which I have purchased, virtually identical in design, I am very disappointed.I have a stack of HDDs to recover and Initialize and this product seemed ideal. It worked mostly correctly, but I did notice that the power switch seemed to require a couple of actuations at times.Just when I desperately needed to have the unit in working order to format 4 HDDs for my sister-in-law on an urgent basis, it stopped working... I checked the voltage being provided by the power adaptor and found it to be correct, but there is no power light nor energizing of the HDD.I searched my equipment closet, finding and substituting an equivalent HDD to USB device and I was able to resolve my immediate need.If this vendor's designs fail during the "Infant Mortality" stage of Reliability, I cannot in good conscience recommend that you purchase this product.
