I just tested it and yes you can have it connected directly to a USB power source and it will operate the same. The light will have all its functions and will be ready to use. The only thing to note is that the small charging indicator will be on the entire time.

Can you be seen 600 feet (200 yards) away with this light?

You absolutely will be seen for 600 ft with this light...and probably a lot farther. This thing is bright, bright enough that the directions say to angle it down so you don't blind the drivers as they get close. It has three different brightness settings, the top one is going to show up even in daylight conditions, and the strobe feature gives you two options that will grab the attention of a driver approaching from the rear.

Is it possible to attach one of these to each bike pedal (like a cheaper look cycle geocity vision grip pedals)?

I don’t think it’s suitable for bike pedals for the following reasons: 1. The pedal might not have any good places to strap the mount on securely. 2. The pedal rotates and would not be safe with the lights on, if it was mountable.
