The Z Team: A Space Opera Thriller

Definitely a solid SciFi novel, and I wouldn’t say you need to be a SciFi fan to enjoy. The characters, one of the best parts in my opinion, were really well done and creative, and would be entertaining in probably any setting. All have different motivations, and you get to see the perspective of each, including a unique perspective of an AI. Overall story is intriguing and keeps revealing new pieces of a puzzle as it progresses. Don’t want to give anything away but there are lot of suspenseful scenes, done really well. The tension will build where the characters have a lot on the line, and it gets tough to put the book down. Especially liked the humor sprinkled throughout. Some of the AI dialogue was enough to laugh out loud. Recommend reading. It got me invested enough in the characters, so I’m in for book 2.

This book was a lot of fun. Its a bit Joss Whedon crossed with Guy Ritchie. Definitely plenty of adventure and action in the stars, but with quirky characters and satire mixed in. Chris DeSantis does a great job of playing with the genre by using some classic tropes -the grizzled ship captain, the hot shot pilot, the naive do-gooder, the hardened killed- but giving them a unique twist that makes them stand out, and draws the reader in.The setting is a lot of fun too. It combines the Star Wars-esque fun of a multi-alien universe with intriguing world building, with some smart commentary/parallels to contemporary society.Highly recommend! Give it a shot, especially if you are looking for something new.

I really enjoyed The Z Team by Chris DeSantis. If you are thinking about giving it a try, my elevator pitch is three words: lighthearted space Fargo.As advertised, it is an exciting and fast-paced space adventure with interesting and quirky characters and some fun twists and turns. It is a bit satirical with a lot of humor, but also some heart to the story. The story has some great world building encompassing an interesting set-up and intrigue, with just enough mystery to keep the reader hooked. I really enjoyed how we get to see the story from of a variety of perspectives, including both the protagonists and antagonists. Also, without spoiling anything, there is a really fun/unique take on AI/robots/droids that really spices the story up and adds a lot of humor.

I really enjoyed this read! This book was intense, thrilling and well thought out. I thoroughly enjoyed the seeing they characters come to life. Definitely my favorite sci-fi find thus far. I hope to see more from this author!

I really enjoyed this book. Fit has an excellent balance of intrigue, action, and humor. I’m excited to see what’s next!
