Great for taking our puppy on longer adventures!
We want to take our chocolate lab puppy out this winter for some snowshoe adventures and longer hikes. She isn't able to hike very far yet, and this pack will let us take her with us and carry her in a way that is comfortable for her and for us. At 16.5 pounds, she still has a lot of room to spare. We encouraged her with lots of treats, and she quickly took to riding in the pack. We fold a small fleece blanket at the bottom to help her head reach the porthole. The tether is helpful, although it isn't fail-safe. She almost climbed out when she saw a neighbor's dog. We carried her on the front the first few times so we could watch her and reassure her. The pack is well-made, and we appreciate the extra pockets. She will eventually outgrow the pack, but we got it knowing we can continue to use it as a backpack for ourselves or her stuff when we travel.

Perfect dog pack!
Works SO well for my 20 pound senior Norwich terrier. There’s plenty of room for him to readjust and get comfortable! Super easy to get him in the pack (he actually jumped in and wouldn’t get out), and he feels safe and secure on my back. I’ve tried other dog packs on the market, but this one beats all of them for my slightly oddly shaped dog. I like that he has room to sit instead of being held upright by his spine. So worth!

Great Bag
This is a great bag. I bought it for my mini poodle that is 22 pounds and long. He is a medium sized dog. It works perfectly. Couldn't find a bag till I found this one to hold him.

Almost too solid - very heavy even when empty.
This is a HEAVY duty pack. I did not realize how heavy it is when empty. Add a small dog and it's pretty much too heavy to use for long (for me). The plus is that it will probably last forever, but there has to be a way to lighten it up somehow. It can be worn in the front with a little effort.

Smaller than it appears
It is much smaller than it appears. I had to return it. Thought to give it credit where it is due- it is well made.. just way way too small at least for carrying a Labrador puppy. I say it is a good backpack ->made to carry much smaller breeds.. :)

It's awesome so far. I will have to add on to the decision I've only used it once with my cat
I just got this bag. I just used it with my cat. He is a very large cat. Erik the Red is both overweight and very long he's a very long cat. Probably 17 or 18 lbs. From head to tail he's about 22 in. He comfortably fits. I think I'm more often going to use this bag in the front over my chest not on my back. Probably the best way to do that is to clip the chest strap on first and then pull it over your head to pull it onto you like a Kevlar vest I guess I mean I've seen people on TV do that or movies. I think it's a very good quality and I've yet to see how it's going to work but I want to go biking and jogging or hiking with my cat and I have to see if he's amenable to that yet but yeah we'll see. I think the bag will not be the impediment my cat might be. The pictures that I included emphasize how to use the safety rods or that I don't know support rods that's it. Before I bought this bag a lot of the reviews were talking about how useless those support rods were and they're not useless it's the instructions are very bad! The zipper for the backpack straps it's got a bottom part and a top part just like an easy zipper does and if you don't realize that it's kind of hard to know that the the rods will go inside the very top part of that compartment where those back straps the backpack straps will be able to be checked into. The instructions are very bad but if you ever try to put the straps in which I think if you don't do that that's what the instructions ask you to do then you realize that the very top of that compartment is above the zipper and that's where the top part of those rods go. I think a lot of people to buy this bag never intend to use it as anything other than a backpack so they skip that part in the instructions and they never realize that that little like an inch and a half on the top of the bag in that back compartment they don't even want to mess with that zipper. You never realize that there's a top part of it.

Best Doggy Backpack On Earth
My Shih Tzu's Favorite Doggy Backpack is...Paws Down...this Kurgo. I've used it for a year. Immediately upon pulling it out of thr closet, Bear's tail starts wagging. He literally squeezes his own body into the bag backwards. He obviously feels safe and comfortable inside his Kurgo bag. Plus, he knows he's about to do his favorite thing on Earth.. a car ride in NYC.

Best Travel Pet Bag By Far
My dog is a 16 years old Maltese. She's still quite spry for her age. However, she doesn't walk much anymore because she is almost blind. I travel quite a bit and I take my dog wherever I go. I've researched and purchased an enormous amount of dog traveling gear. I currently I have 3 backpacks (including this one) in the trunk of my car. Depending on where we're going and for how long dictates which backpack to put her in. I use this backpack mostly for traveling on planes and festivals/events. Sometimes I use this if I just don't feel like showing the BS "registered" service dog card or with places that don't adhere to service dog laws (ADA) like Chinese markets. I could hide my dog easily in this backpack. I shouldn't have to disclose that I'm Chinese, but I am in case anyone thinks I'm somehow being somehow racially biased by stating a FACT. This backpack has so much room for my 7 pound dog that I can store up to two days worth of clothes, toiletries and my tablet. It's perfect for air travel because the backpack can be placed on the floor horizontally and there's plenty of room. I used to have a carrying case just for my dog when traveling so either I would bring another backpack with clothes or a luggage roller. Now, I can reach for my tablet, water for myself and my dog, and any other electronic items I placed in the bag. I realized black is not an ideal color for summer outdoor events but there are a couple of things to consider when cooling down your pet. First, there is plenty of room in the compartment between you and the dog to place a cooling pad. In fact, there's a 7" x 10" compartment right up against the animal compartment. Second, I have two cooling blankets that I purchased for my dog. Even though it is freezing in my house, I was told by the vet that she shouldn't be breathing more than 30 times in a minute. The cooling blankets help a lot so I fold one and place it at the bottom of the animal compartment. Kurgo really did a great job designing this bay. The only criticism that really doesn't mean much is the two rods that come with the backpack are useless. It takes up too much space in the animal compartment. So if your dog is in the 20 pound range, they're pointless. That's pretty much it! If you made it all the way down here, you must be a pretty patient person.

Great doggy backpack
After buying the backpack last summer, today was the first time I’d properly tested it on a long walk. I would recommend using the stabilising rods provided with the backpack so it feels more rigid. It feels strong and there’s the ability to connect your dog’s harness within the rucksack to keep him/her secure. My border is quite heavy for her size but the comfortable straps helped distribute her weight evenly. Plenty of room for her to be comfortable. As shown in the photo, the rucksack can be used as a carry case. This was really useful when we stopped for a drink. My little girl could then lie down comfortably in the rucksack. Great value for money; I would highly recommend.

Super tevreden
Goed stevig materiaal, mooi afgewerkt. Tevreden met 5 out of 5 stars!
