Slide out to extend. I purchased this lens thinking it could be a fast 135mm affordable no-bells and whistles portrait lens. Small lighter weight and less moving parts than it's more expensive autofocusing counterparts.A lot of the reviews here for this lens appear to be based on the premise of a free product in exchange for review.I paid for this lens with my own money and this review is not sponsored.Upon opening the package and inspecting the lens, I notice the aperture numbers are already faded or not completely filled in with the paint. The zoom also feels very heavy and difficult to turn. Figured it might give in a bit over time and break-in to a smoother rotation. Also, one rear screw on the mount was missing from its hole but was in the bag at the bottom it shipped in. Not good initial signs!Mounted this lens to my full frame Nikon D850. Snapped a good few dozen test photos and noticed that the entire barrel of the lens wiggles left and right with a lot of play when using the focus ring. I thought it might be the mount being lose on the connection to the camera but that is actually solid. This is distracting and does not give much confidence in fine tuning my focus for shots since this is an entire manual lens. Selecting the aperture gives feedback with a subtle but non-audible click. The retractable lens hood is a nice feature and it does appear to be coated in felt to reduce glare and reflections from light sources. Unfortunately there is this rubberized coating on the lens hood that appears to already be rubbing off upon its unboxing. I could live with this lens at and low price point if it wasn't for these crucial issues that takes away the functionality and tactile feeling of operating a manual lens.I've uploaded images and a video showing the play on the lens barrel when using the zoom ring which still remains very stiff but has given in a little bit after feeding 100 or so images and using then focus ring. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent tripod lens for macro shooting with Nikon D5600! *by J***D on October 7, 2021* The Jintu 135mm f/2.8 large aperture lens works great with my Nikon D5600. This is a manual lens, so you'll need to set your camera to manual mode in order to use it. But my Nikon recognized without any issue, and I was able to use it as I would any other manual lens.Focus ring and aperture adjustment all work smoothly , with just enough friction to provide aeasy control over your shots.Since the lens doesn't provide virtual stabilization you'll need to use a tripod with it in order to get usable shots. Ideally you'll use it with remote shutter control, since its pretty sensitive to any movements, even those from hitting the shutter button.The lens comes very well packaged, packed inside a drawstring pouch and includes a lens cleaner brush, microfiber cleaning cloth, and detailed instructions for use.As long as you know that this both a manual and tripod lens, you'll it very satisfactory for a variety of different shooting environments. For me, I really like using it for macro photography, but you can do so much more with it too.Crystal clear shots, excellent build quality, natural fit for my Nikon.
