Good generator, good price.
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Great generator, easy to set up, very quiet. I already had a non-inverter 6500w Ryobi generator for power outage emergencies at home, but that was going to be much too loud to use for our new 16 ft RV trailer. I'll be using this to power my RV trailer when boondocking - sitting in the pick-up bed, but I presume it could go onto a trailer rear-bumper platform if I wasn't already carrying bikes and a spare tire back there. I can usually do without aux power except in the summer with the dogs. If we have to leave them alone the ability to run the a/c when we stop to see a roadside attraction, etc. is critical. Thus this generator is providing much freedom for travel with the dogs (and will certainly add some comfort on hot nights for us humans, too). I did a test run with my 3500 btu RV air conditioner. Mathematically, I thought the iGen 5000 generator would handle it, but I was getting occassional OL trips when the A/C unit started. Thus I'll be putting a soft start device on the A/C. UPDATE: This soft-start worked wonders. A/C runs great now and starts up with no generator overload trips. Builder wanted a unit that is Quieter, Lighter, with Remote Start & Duel Fuel - Excellent choice
Knowing advantaged technology has improved efficiency of generator operations, weather has not followed suit. Many people have paid thousands for a whole house back-up system, typically needed for a week of power outage per year. The longest for us, here in MI has been 4 days. Since we have NG for our furnace, hot water heater and fireplace gas log, when power was out, we'd only need back-up power for our furnace fan, refrigerator, freezer and one family room outlet. I installed 4 separate remodel outlet boxes for each location (furnace, frig, freezer and FamRm outlet) with a wire to our laundry room thru our crawlspace, installed one small breaker box with (4) 15 amp breakers and supplied power to the breaker box from a new inverter generator. When power went out, all I had to do was unplug each power cord from existing outlet and plug into a new remodel outlet, which was independent from the house power. Then, I'd turn on the power switch to my new Westinghouse iGen4500DF inverter generator outside the house, walk back into my house and push the remote button to start 4500DF inverter. Keep in mind, I didn't have to turn off the house power from the grid. When power grid would come back on, then I'd switch the power cords back. As a builder, it was easy to install to install (4) new outlet boxes, outlet plugs, wire to our laundry room, (4) 15 amp breakers, one new small breaker box and one new supply line from a new inverter. Any electrician can do it for anyone who doesn't like electrical work. It's easy to pull an electrical permit, get the work done, get it inspected, approved and keep the approved permit in your records. Our new "Westinghouse iGen4500DF inverter generator" weighs just 104 lbs., noise level is 50% quieter when it supplies power as needed, yet stays on idling, runs off gasoline or propane (I prefer propane because is is cleaner with no spilled gas to wipe up, turning on and off our inverter from inside your house, all are the options I wanted!! I'm currently building a small cabin in the woods. My new iGen4500DF makes it quiet, lighter to move, takes less time to set up, cleaner using LPG and remote on & off fab switch was a right decision I made! When I placed the order thru Amazon, it arrived ahead of schedule this past December, 2021, it took 32 minutes to set-up at a cost of $938.00. I added $224.00 in electrical components, propane and left over wire from past projects. A stand alone whole house back up system costs several thousand vs. less than $1,200.00. I made the right decision!

First class product with great performance!
Outstanding performance, extremely quiet and easy to move around with the handle. Powers my RV without effort. Also has a long run rate on a tank of fuel.

Good generator - glad I did my research
I did a ton of research before buying this, as I was debating the Cummins Onan version of this same generator. I honestly don't think there is a difference beyond brand...pretty sure it is manufactured by the exact same manufacturer. Generator shipped quickly and arrived well packaged. It came with the propane kit, oil, screw in oil funnel, and a small bag of tools for spark plug maintenance, oil changes, etc. I followed the set-up instructions (which were very simple) by simply connecting the battery and filling the engine with the supplied oil. I then tested the unit (with gas, have not tested propane yet), and it fired up immediately. I let it run for about 10-minutes prior to adding any load. I then connected our RV power to the unit, and fired up the air conditioner and fridge. The load meter on the unit was still below 20%, which was a pleasant surprise. It is as quiet or quieter than the Predator 3500 unit I used to rent every camping trip, and it is much easier to move around because of the telescoping travel handle. So far I have been very impressed. Have not tested the remote start yet either, but I am sure that works fine. Giving it 4-stars because I have not put it through a year's worth of paces yet...but it definitely feels to be of high quality (more so than the generator I've rented in the past for sure).

Quiet, Powerful, and Very Convenient Generator
The Westinghouse generator has been a great purchase. It runs very quietly for its size and provides plenty of power for my needs. The remote electric start is extremely convenient, especially during bad weather. It’s easy to use, starts reliably, and feels well-built. Perfect for home backup or outdoor use—highly recommend.

UPDATE: Received a new gas cap under warranty this week from Westinghouse directly. Their service is awesome as they sent me the part right away without any hassle or questions. Fill it with gas and it started up right away. After letting It run for a bit with a 10% load I hooked up my portable air compressor that pulls 15 amps initially on startup. This generator handled it like a champ. I’m giving this review 5 stars now. I like the generator, however the gas cap was on too tight and broke while trying to add gas to it for the first time. Very flimsy plastic that could not take the stress. Wish it was a better design with a steel interior instead of flimsy plastic. How am I going to get a new one to replace the broken part?

Loved it but it quit working within a year. Took it to the repair service they referred us to four months ago. Still not done. Says its a parts issue. Will research repair options before I buy another Westinghouse product.

This generator arrived just in time for a snowstorm that had our power off for 12 hours. I had ordered it so we could use it with our travel trailer this summer. On the day it arrived a snow storm hit and we lost power for about 12 hours. I hopped out to the garage, opened the back door for ventilation and after just a few minutes of setting up the generator it fired up right away and we had power and heat. I have no doubt that this summer it will be perfect for our trailer when we boondock.

Only 5 hours on it but runs great. Could be a bit quieter but it doesn’t cost 3500 like the Yamaha equivalent. Remote and electric start work well. Only issue I had was the auto choke wiring came lose in shipping so it wouldn’t start on a cold morning but I manually choked it and it was fine and after connecting the auto choke harness again it never skipped a beat on a zero degree day.

In the beginning I loved this generator. It was quiet and efficient. However, and this may not be an issue for everyone, but I live off grid and I need a generator to be a backup in winter when the days are short and solar power is not enough to keep to batteries topped off. When things got cold, and not even very cold, I couldn't get this generator to start. I changed to 5w30 synthetic oil since the manual said that was better for all temperatures. It didn't change anything. Come spring it decided to stop starting at all. I tracked it to a fuel supply issue after charging the oil and spark plug. When I messaged Westinghouse customer support I was told that I have a fuel supply issue and to take it to a small engine repair place. Thanks, I can see that. I have been off grid for more than 10 years and running a less efficient and loud beast of a generator which has never had an issue starting in any weather. This was supposed to be my upgrade. Sadly, it is now a $2000 paper weight. I will be taking it to a small engine repair but this will be my disappointing backup generator. As I say, if you need a generator to run only in warm places, I was very happy with this one. But if you need it to run reliably, this might be a pass.
