    Sarah Fragoso does it again!

I just received my new cookbook yesterday, and cannot wait to try pretty much everything inside this one (just like we did with the first... trust me, it's beaten and battered from use in the kitchen). First on my list will be Cauliflower Hummus (genius) and Sloppy Joes in Portabellas. Going to make the dinner for our 1-year Paleo Anniversary (we went Paleo last year in September and Sarah's first book guided us through the transition. I quit 7 years as a vegetarian for Paleo and feel so much better its unbelievable). If you own the first cookbook, which you SHOULD, this new one has gorgeous photos and a beautiful layout. The first one has awesome info and recipes, but is much more "homemade" looking with family snapshots, etc. With this book it is clear she is now in the Big Leagues! On a side note, the title of this one might be confusing (is it just the same book with updated cover and photos? Not at all!) but I will forgive. The rest of it is awesome. Sections are divided much more logically (sauces, slow cooker, meaty mains, and very little "dessert" or treat options - good). I was always getting confused with the first book... I think it's because the fish section was yellow. No separate "fish" section here - good! There are fish recipes of course, just in the Meat Meals section. The book is also a bit thinner, but I attribute that to there not being a weightlifting/workout section. (If you want the info, go buy the first book already!) I also want to point out that even though the emphasis is on a family with kids, there's no reason this book won't work for your family if you don't have kids (we don't! just a cat... at the moment). The advice she gives is great, and pertinent to everyone. Who doesn't want to know how to pack a delicious lunch?!? I also appreciate the "quick meal ideas" section, where there aren't full page recipes, just short easy recipes that look delicious. Thank you Sarah for another awesome cookbook. We can't wait to try everything in here! I wasn't sure it could be done, since the first Everyday Paleo was so good - but you've managed it in spades!! Now to go find myself some coconut aminos for my Kale Chips...

    Great cookbook! But....

This is my favorite cookbook! Every single recipe has a full page color picture and the contents have small thumbnail pictures with the page numbers and name of the dish. It really is laid out beautifully. The recipes I've made so far have all been wonderful. Best Ever Chicken Wings? SO good...we're having more tonight! Slow Chicken Curry? Yuuuummmmm! This is a cookbook, but the author does give a basic overview of Paleo and how she came to the lifestyle. If you want more in depth information you need to grab one of the many other Paleo books out there.I do have a peeve with the book (and the Paleo community in general), and it concerns their stance on milk. I agree that pasteurized milk is one of the worst things you can put in your body. Anything good that was in the milk was completely destroyed during the pasteurization process and all that's left over is an inflammatory, mucus producing, sludge of yuck! The same cannot be said of RAW milk and raw milk products. In fact, there seems to be much evidence that the opposite is true. Raw kefir has been proven to be especially beneficial. My point is, is that Sarah Fragoso makes the distinction between grain and grass fed meat, but does not do so with pasteurized and raw milk. Raw milk should always come from grass fed cows. If you believe that you don't want to drink milk because it's for baby cows, that's fine, but to lump all milk together as being bad is just untrue and I wish the Paleo community would address this.Having said that, I absolutely recommend Everyday Paleo and I do believe that following the principles of the Paleo lifestyle would benefit everyone currently eating a Standard American Diet.

I'm Impressed - A good cookbook for Paleo dieters and non-Paleo dieters alike!

I was interested in starting a Paleo diet, or at least, changing my diet to be closer to one. My friend recommended this book to me, as she said it had many different recipes that tasted good. The beginning of the book is filled with information about the paleolithic diet; why it's good for your system, what foods you can eat, and how it changed the author's life. I honestly loved the personal touch. She also goes on to give advice and tips on how to lessen the blow to your budget, as eating a lot of meat and fresh produce can increase your grocery bill. She also has a sample one-week meal plan with a complete grocery list to help you get started. Another positive point to this book: Unlike other paleo diet books I have bought, this author is not condescending and is genuinely helpful. There are few mini-quick recipes in the introduction section, so if you buy this book, don't skip over those! So far, I have tried about 10 recipes. I especially recommend the zucchini salad and the sweet potato chips for the sides and the mini meatloaves for dinner. Everything that I have made has been a huge hit with the family, and that's saying something, since my 8 year old son is a very picky eater. My other two children and my husband are really enjoying the food.I think the author makes a good attempt at trying to please every type of cook with this book. Some of the recipes are quick and easy, others are quite involved with lots of chopping and cutting of vegetables. For me, I love being in the kitchen, so I have been picking the more labor intensive recipes to start off with. However, tonight I tried the easy pulled pork recipe, and let me tell you, it was EASY and the roast was delicious! In conclusion, whether you are looking for a paleo cookbook or just looking for new recipes to expand your collection, I highly recommend this book!
