Works with any beverage without watering it down like ice.
It isn't going to get the beverage very cold like ice but it has a purpose. It will bring the beverage below room temperature. I put a shot of gin in a small drinking glass with a lime twist and olive. I add the stones from the freezer. Place a plastic lid over the top of the glass. Shaking vigorously wakes the flavors up while bringing down the temperature without watering down the gin. The stones are a purposeful product I use every day.

Not even close to ice.
Only cools the whisky, and for a very short time. I'll stick to ice.
