Purchased these weights for surf fishing Florida's panhandle. Perfect weight for a sand bottom where big currents and rip tides exist. Craftsmanship is top notch. I really like the added plastic tubes for the break-away wires, makes the wire wider to grab more sand.

These are great. Don’t listen to anyone who says differently. If they are deployed correctly and in sufficient size for the roughness of the surf your line will stay in place unlike pyramid weighs and especially egg weights which will slide and roll along the bottom in rough surf which can, and in my case, 6-oz. pyramids having been pushed ashore by the wind and surf at Edisto Beach, South Carolina just last week in 20-30 mph winds. After casting one needs to take up the slack and put tension on your fishing line and get the Sputnik sinker to “bite” into bottom. Place your rod in a rod holder under tension with the tip slightly bent due to the tension. This does two things - first, it anchors the weight to the bottom by making the wires attach themselves to the bottom, and second, helps set the hook when the bait is struck causing the weight to come loose releasing the line tension helping to set the hook prior to you even picking up your rod to reel in your catch. I’ve used similar breakaways for years with great success and swear by them when surf fishing on windy days and when the surf is rough. I also use them with sinker slides allowing the fish to make a run with the bait before realizing that a weight is attached breaking the weight loose allowing the line tension to help set the hook.

Well made sinker, I would recommend to any first time buyer to buy lighter sinker than intended, as the 4 oz sinkers I purchased are holding like a 6 oz of any other make that I have used.

The product looks cool like it could work, but I wouldn't waste my money on these just use regular triangle/whatever kind of weight you like they work the exact same
