ClosetMaid 1632 Cubeicals 3-Cube Storage Bench, Espresso with Gray Cushion

I needed a relatively inexpensive storage option to accent the bookcases in my study. This bench, in espresso, was a perfect match and fit the space available. I was able to get the storage bench at a reduced price on Amazon and seized the opportunity. The bench is a better quality wood than most assemble yourself pieces of furniture. It assembles with interlocking metal tenons and some wooden dowels --- a flat blade and phillips head screwdriver are all that is required (there are 4 wood screws too). Everything was pre-drilled and precut and aligned perfectly. My only complaint is that the pieces are not marked so you have to match them up very carefully with the instructions. The instruction booklet is very good, but you do have to read them first, then identify the components, and re-read them again before starting. Working alone it took me about two hours to put together on a gloomy afternoon taking my time. The backing is the usual piece of cardboard that needs to be tacked into place, but again the holes are pre-started and perfectly aligned. I could have probably moved faster but deliberately took my time. I wouldn't say it was an easy assembly, but I had no problems and would not describe it as difficult. The finished product is very sturdy and it serves its purpose. There were a couple of small blemishes on the wood but they were in places not easily noticeable and were acceptable given the price. The included pad is a nice touch. It is thick and comfortable. I would buy this again and would recommend it to others.

We have been trying to find something for our small hallway off-and-on for several years. We were undecided about whether we wanted a small table or a small bench. The hardest part was finding something we liked that was no more than 35" wide. This bench is the perfect fit.We have several pieces of flat-pack furniture. Normally I am less than impressed with the quality of the pieces, especially the back pieces. They tend to be made of thin cardboard and provide no stability to the piece. I was pleasantly surprised but this bench. It's probably one of the least expensive pieces we own but one of the better quality pieces. The back pieces are much sturdier than I expected.It took me about an hour or so to assemble it. I did have to get my husband to help me tighten down the screws but I did the rest myself. It was easy and the directions were very clear. I recently said I'd never own another piece of flat-pack furniture but now I'm willing to make an exception if it's ClosetMaid.

I would give anything to be organized but two toddlers keep ruining my home life. Still, I bought one of these for my service entrance to keep shoes, hats, and winter gear from piling up so tall I can't get to my kitchen. I didn't want to spend a ton of money because (1) this isn't in a main part of the house, (2) I have two young kids who may destroy it, and (3) it might not stick around if I don't like the look (since I wasn't sure about getting something online) or if I don't find it useful. You can definitely tell this is not a fancy piece I picked up at a furniture store - it looks like a modular piece you'd get at target or Walmart maybe. But it is holding up well to use. My hubby and two kids have sat on it together (over 200 lbs) and it still seemed sturdy and wasn't creaky. We've had it for a few months and nothing has cracked or chipped or fallen apart. The mat on top is pretty stiff and has stayed that way without wrinkling up. The unit showed up in near perfect condition and took less than a half hour to put together. It looks clean and the bins you order for it fit well with no gaps. Granted, the bins are not under lock and key so my precious kiddos just take them out and dump the stuff everywhere, so really I'm still no further organized after this purchase. But those of you lucky people with no children or with children that listen would probably enjoy these. Based on our personal use, I can say each bin holds about 5 to 7 pairs of kids shoes or about 8 winter hats and matching mitten sets. For the price point on Amazon I'd definitely buy this again although the cover mat color option isn't my first choice.

Bench is very sturdy. I am a plus size woman and I have no qualms sitting on this bench for an extended period of time. I always read the weight limitations of things and the description for this bench is very accurate. I bought this for storage and for a place for my cat to sit while I work. Only drawback is the cubbies are smaller than I hoped, but they were just a bonus to the bench

Whoever shipped this needs some training. The shipping box the original package-box was shipped in had a ton of literal wiggle room which caused what appears to have been a great amount of the items box smashing back and forth inside the larger shipping box. The result was decimated styrofoam packing inside the item-box as well as some pretty nasty (and unfortunately very visible on the assembled product) cosmetic damage. We have a toddler and so I’m sure far worse abuse will ensue so this wasn’t a deal breaker for us, but it would be something I would caution to be aware of this possibly happening.Overall this was super easy to put together and so far seems very durrable. The cushion is nice and dense so your bum doesn’t bottom out and there’s a set of Velcro/adhesive strips to keep the cushion from sliding around or falling off.In all: great product, crappy shipping job.

The directions were easy to follow. It took us about 20 minutes to put together. Just needed a Phillips screwdriver and a small hammer. It seems fairly sturdy. Take care in attaching the peel and stick velcro as it can't be moved once down. Be sure of positioning. We bought the little cloth inserts . They arrived the day after and are nice to hide things in. Very happy with the way it looks. Matches our tiles perfectly and enhances the decor in our bathroom.
