Why buy new mulch?
I never knew this was a thing! I bought the black paint which seems to hide everything. I would highly recommend!

easier than removing all of your mulch
I have never heard of mulch dye until I saw this item. We moved into a new home about 2 years ago and one of the projects on my to do list was to remove and replace all of the ugly orange mulch around the house. So when I saw this I thought I would try it because it would be much easier than removing and replacing all of the mulch. It saves money, and alot of physical work. It is easy to apply with a pump sprayer and i like that it is safe for plants and pets. So far so good.

Very disappointed. Not dark brown
This dye is a mulch red color. Looks brown in bottle but when added to water it’s too red. Does not match my brown mulch at all. Had to buy a different brand to cover it up.

Easy To Use; “Paints” Your Mulch Dark Brown
This product is simple to work with and is very effective in a darkening mulch, plants, leaves or anything else you happen to spray it on. I tried it on several test spots in my backyard where we are planning to add more mulch in the Spring as well as one 2’x2’ section of red mulch in the front (see the picture.). In each test case, I feel like this product did a very good job so, I am looking forward to using it in the Spring to paint all of our red mulch brown. The red mulch was actually the last thing I sprayed so, there was not much of the dye mixture left at that point. However, I sprayed in horizontal then vertical passes until there was no dye left and am pleased with how it turned out. We have multiple spots of red mulch out front so, I plan to get another bottle of this dye to ensure I have enough to complete the job. For my testing, I added about 3 capfuls of dye to about 1/2 gallon of water inside a handheld, pump sprayer. I shook the pump to mix everything then walked around the yard spraying different areas just to see what it would do. You spray this dye onto the mulch in pretty much the same fashion as you would use a paint sprayer or an air brush. It is just that easy. I was concerned that the dye would permanently stain the white plastic of my pump sprayer but, once I was done “painting”, I rinsed the pump out with fresh water a couple of times and that removed most of the dye. I also sprayed clear water through the hose/nozzle to make sure they were clean then stored everything away. I did not experiment with the ratio of dye to water but I imagine more dye in the same amount of water would yield a darker color. And, of course, you could also apply more “coats” until you get the color you want. Overall, I am very pleased with this product and plan to purchase more. * I base my own purchases on customer reviews. If this helped at all, please click the "helpful" button below this review.

SAVES $$$$$$$
Always in the past a spring ritual for me is buying 30 bags or so of mulch after the pollen has fallen. On sale this would run me about $60. This quart is for 3000sq ft, enough to renew mine 3 or 4 times. The pros, this saves quite a lot of $$, saves time, not going to the big box store and whole lot easier on my OLD back. The only negative is you have to be careful not to get this on your plants, edging or sidewalk/driveway as it will stain for a while. Spray when mulch is dry and there is no wind. One last thing, most mulches you see today have been "colored", now you can do this at home.
