H.W. Tenor Sax Pad-Saver

I only use this as a pass through swab. I wrap my silk scarf around the long piece and pass it through the tubing of the flute. Works nicely. *Bonus*..... With the foam tip I wrap the scarf around that and it's perfect for cleaning out the head. It gets all the moisture out up close to the cork area and the all around too. I do not leave this inside my flute.

I'm in marching band, and I noticed how my pads would get dirty, and sticky, and just plain nasty, so I bought a cleaner. I thought it would work, since it was fluffy, but in return, it gave me saliva stuck fibers, and it wouldn't come out. Not even when I put it in the dishwasher. So, I turned to the more expensive option. This product. I was hesitant buying it, because of my past experiences with flute pad savers, but all my friends said they were perfect, so I gave it a shot. Boy, am I glad I listened. I love this product! it Absorbs saliva, takes away the nasties and stickiness my pads were getting from my left in saliva, and just overall helped me care for my flute. It hasn't broken, and is easy to wash (just throw it in the dishwasher). It remains fluffy, and soft, and is just overall and amazing investment. Now that I haveone, I feel like I got a deal for how good this product is. I would recommend it to any flute player. It is a must have! (especially for those who play everyday.)

Not as absorbent as I would like. I like that it has a sponge on the tips so that you can get to the flute’s head joint. It is not as absorbent as I would like. I have to take a couple passes, and even then I have to use a different cleaning rag to give it a final cleaning to get it dry. It just leaves streaks.

I have been really pleased with this flute cleaning tool. I have only used the long piece of this set. I am not really sure what the short piece is for. This cleaning tool is fluffy and I feel confident in its ability to dry the inside of my flute. There are other similar cleaning tools out there, but this one is the fluffiest I have found so far and it holds up its form and doesn't get matted down with moisture.Important Note: Do NOT leave this cleaning tool or any tool for that matter inside your flute for storage. The pads need to dry and they cannot do that if the airway is impended. Also, this tool needs to air out and allowed to completely dry between uses for it to effectively clean.

I bought this for my daughter for her flute and she loves it. It’s easy to use and she leaves it inside the flute while it’s in the case. My only complaint is that I wish it came in different colors but other than that we love it.

The H.W. brand pad savers are my favorite. I trust them and use them on all three of my saxophones. One note on the Tenor model. I own a Yamaha 62-iii tenor and I had to saw off about a half of an inch of the cap to allow it to fit into my case. This was not a big deal and took only a few minutes. Most saxophone cases are not as tight as the pro Yamaha cases so this would not be a huge issue.Please note: To properly clean a saxophone and keep it dry, you will need a swab to get the moisture out (I use a Yamaha Monster Swab, but any Tenor swab will suffice), then you put in the pad saver and hold in the top three keys B C G and twist the saver several times, then repeat for the F E D keys to complete the circuit. This way you ensure that you have properly wicked the moisture off of the pads. I absolutely love playing the saxophone and hope that each of you find as much enjoyment as I do playing this amazing instrument.

I've had many items like this for various instruments. This one is cheap and probably won't last long.

It does the job I bought it for and for that reason I can’t complain about that. However I’m giving it 2 stars only because it seems to catch at times inside the tenor sax near the top. For that reason some of the material came away from the pad. It doesn’t happen all the time, you just have to be extremely careful when removing it. Don’t yank it out, it’s not something I’d say could be “easily” removed….the better description would be to “carefully” remove.

I use it to clean the straight tube, but have to use a cloth for the bent part. It helps, but I still have to dry some of the pads. Curiously, there must be some component or colourant which comes up on the California harmful chemicals list - so I wouldn't leave it in the tube of my sax.

I bought the tenor sax version for my Yamaha instrument. I am an Amazon Prime subscriber and the item was delivered the next day after placing the order. My initial impression is that this is a good purchase and I am pleased with it. There is one problem that I have found though. The pad saver has a collar at the end which protrudes when fully inserted. The result of this is that I cannot leave the pad saver inserted in the saxophone when I put the instrument into its case because it will no longer fit into the shaped storage compartment.

The purchase of this product on Amazon caused me to "accidently" sign up for Amazon Prime AGAIN and me to cancel it YET AGAIN. I deleted all the other products that I had in the basket that I could get elswhere but failed in the short term to find alternative supplier for the product so kept it (it was priced with postage included anyway).I have now resolved to look for all future requirements from other than Amazon until they stop the disgusting habit of duping people into signing up to Prime.

Item arrived on quick time. Well packed for the journey. The pad saver fits my alto sax perfectly. It does its job and is a very gentle fit. I can recommend this pad saver.
