Satisfying and tasty, well made
To be honest, in part I wanted these due to the fiber content. Wow, they have an impressive amount and unlike the few others that have similar amounts of fiber, I like having a flavor that makes me feel like I'm not eating a candy bar. That is my second reason for buying these - flavor. Also, I enjoy the plant protein based bars. I think there are many who don't enjoy the consistency of protein bars, but I oddly like it. It takes a fair amount to turn me off from a bar. The nice thing about these is that they seem substantial and not really oily at all. My other favorite bar is so oily it requires a napkin and careful touching while eating it, but I still love that one, too.I'm surprised at how big these seem yet the calorie count is lower than most, too.The flavor is satisfying without being cloyingly sweet or odd in anyway. The price on here is hefty (heftier today I noticed) but I did it as it seems these sell out so often and I had missed out a few times. However, I just ordered a different flavor directly from Julian with a promotion and got another box much cheaper.Depending of what your motivation is for eating a protein bar, this one may fit the bill for you. It does for me!

First Impression: Ok, but not Great
I got these to see if they were an adequate alternative to D's No Cow Bars. They are not really. The flavor is pretty bland, and I don't require a lot of flavor. I got about halfway through my first bar and wasn't very impressed. The flavor was mostly unidentifiable. I had to look at the package again to see what the flavor was supposed to be. Then I could kind of relate what I was tasting to the database in my brain to determine if there was any commonality. It was only slight. At about the 2/3 mark, I had lost interest in the thing. This was right after work and I was hungry, but this bar was doing nothing for me. I went ahead and consumed the rest just to get rid of it. I've got 11 more to get used to the flavor, but I'm not overly optimistic at this point. I enjoy the flavor of the No Cow Bars from D's quite a bit better. They are also easier to eat.

Pleasantly surprised
I was surprised that they weren't totally gross. I've had MANY of the Julian Bakery products, including dozens of the bars. After purchasing Vanilla Pudding last year and it being completely gross (super oily, bad taste) I didn't want to buy anything else from them for a while. These were not bad at all for a protein bar. Don't get me wrong- it doesn't taste like a cinnamon roll! Or any other delicious baked good. But we don't expect that from protein bars, which are usually not that tasty. These have kind of a weird aftertaste but I found it to be tolerable. Not weirdly oily (as some of the other bars are) and not overly chewy (some will seriously break your teeth because they're so hard and chewy) but still chewy enough to be pleasant. I'll definitely purchase these again. What I love these for is nutrition on the go when traveling. I travel a lot and you don't want to overpay for bad food on an airline, or in an airport. Also, if you're going to a new country, you don't always know what to expect or if you'll be able to grab a snack somewhere. So, I can't say a lot from a diet/ exercise perspective (I run most days, I used to be a competitive athlete, and I have in general a good diet, but I don't consider myself some super knowledgeable work out person). Like I said, for me this is about nutrition on the go, and I think they work great for that. Hope this helps!

Aptly Named, Super Tasty, and Nutritionally Sound
Julian Bakery flat out makes my favorite protein bars, so when this popped up as a recommendation on my Amazon page, I felt pretty safe in giving it a try. I'm starting to loose track of the ones I've tried, so we'll just leave it as the only two I didn't love were their glazed donut and their coconut cream. The glazed donut I felt was too hard, and the coconut cream reminded me too much of coconut nougat candy, which I'm not really fond of. Unlike some of their bars, I actually think this one is well named. Super well named. It really does taste like a cinnamon twist roll, I was actually pleasantly surprised on that. Thumbs up, guys :)Like all of their bars I've tried, these do have a thin sheen of oil coating them, I'm guessing to keep them from sticking to the wrapper. Easily wiped off, and I totally think it's worth putting up with because of the naturalness of the ingredients they use. I love that about their bars in general. I also love that they don't use artificial sweeteners, but rather use monk fruit, which has a glycemic index of zero and comes with zero calories. The artificial sweeteners many brands use come with a host of undesirable side effects that vary depending on the type, and some brands load their bars up with so much sugar or corn syrup it may as well be a candy bar. If you have any sort of reason medical or otherwise for wanting or needing to be careful of your sugar intakes, their products are a great choice, because monks fruit doesn't have any sort of bitter taste, and it doesn't have any of the side effects that come with the other artificial stuff. Now since this is a vegan friendly product, it is worth noting that they do list the amino acids and the quantities on the bottom of the box and I didn't really have any problems with what I saw there, it looks like the bases are well enough covered. For me, I'm not vegan, I'm not paleo, I'm just generally a vegetarian, but I think their bars flat out rock because they're not loaded up with unnecessary crud, they use healthier sweetening alternatives, they use natural ingredients, and most of the ones I've tried taste awesome. This is honestly one of the better ones, my other two favorites though are not in their vegan line so I'm guessing they're not as relevant to you (but in case you're not strictly vegan, the sunflower butter ones and the primal thin sweet cream are also super awesome). So I did enjoy these, would actually buy them again, and have no problem recommending them. And since I'm starting to sound like a spokeswoman for their company, I should say...I buy everything I review for my own use, I don't review free samples of anything, and I'm not in any way affiliated with anybody or anything I've ever reviewed. I just genuinely love their protein bars and think they are overall a superior product.
