desertcart.com: Unidentified: A Science-Fiction Thriller: 9798495442757: Richards, Douglas E.: Books Review: Phenomenal book! - This is such a wonderful story. Douglas E. Richards outdid himself, which is hard to believe since his other novels are so darn good. Fabulous characters and character development, amazing descriptions of the technology and possibilities of the story behind all the information being released about UAVs and related events. Start this book early in the day or else you’ll be up all night finishing it! Review: I like Richards fun, alter ego. - Richards is a solid writer. He is able to keep a story moving and not lose the reader in a jumble of action. I have read several of his books and find the central idea or encounter with alien technology well presented as to seem logical and consistently utilized. This book is a treat by Richards. Who doesn't love a nerd with superhuman abilities? Especially when he wins the most beautiful woman in the solar system. Richards' main character seems to be his alter ego who always winds up with the girl. He is an unlikely character to save the world and frustrate a hostile alien invasion a few thousand years from now. Thanks Doug for you heroic efforts!

Facts with an exciting story and very interesting theories explained and considered!
I have read all the books by Douglas E. Richards that I could get. I got hooked from the time I first read Seeker. In Undentified: A Science Fiction Thriller, the author continues with his extensive research into the subject of UFOs and UAPs. The first four chapters are full of items that I did not know regarding patents, sightings, and more. And while these items are being presented, an exciting story starts to unfold that kept me going until the very thrilling end of the book! I have listened to the book in Audio and read it on my Kindle too. I only do that with books that give me links to things that I want to explore further. BTW there are similar concepts explored in this book as in another of the author's earlier books titled The Cure. By coincidence I was re-reading and re-listening to both at the same time and enjoyed them both even more than the first time through for each. I am convinced that the author is at the top of his game and I one of the absolute best writers ever!

Shocker
Mr Richards is a believer in UFO's. To prove their existence, his protagonist goes on a website devoted to UFO's, and announces he's going to do a big reveal as soon as he comes back from a field trip. This was a trick intended to get the aliens to reveal themselves, and it works. As usual there are two groups of aliens, and now we're presented with the question of which group is the good guys. The story reads pretty well except for the monstrous reversals and twists that are telegraphed well before the reveal. Mr Richards gives us a lot of information he's learned about UFO's, but he leaves off the contradictory analysis or evidence, e.g., those radar pictures we saw on television gave an erroneous impression because they were on a wrong switch setting. Nevertheless, Mr Richards gives an honest presentation of the facts as he understands them. In his story, Mr Richards tries to explain why some alien race would devote its resources hanging out around a relatively undeveloped planet like earth. He introduces various gadgets into his story such as nannites, invisibility cloaks, holograms, etc. All of this makes for an amusing story, but also a story that feels much as if it came out of a formula. I guess my biggest problem with the story is that it is told from the perspective of a true believer. I'm willing to listen to him, but I'm unwilling to adopt his beliefs.

So many twists I was constantly amazed.
Douglas is known for his fantastic ideas and imagination. This book was full of clever, mind bending and awesome scenes and actions. I always enjoy Doug’s books and this one did not disappoint. We have a rather nerdy but kind and adventurous protagonist to admire and follow. We have a romance that is tested time and time again. We have an incredible female lead who can defend herself and anyone else around her. We have other worldly beings and UFOs galore. The story line is intense and totally confusing at times due to the complexities of the intelligent creatures involved. The reader will be entertained, amazed and absorbed in this deep sci-if book. Have fun.

Doug does a semi-autobiography
UNIDENTIFIED is so close to reality (at least for the first third or so) that it reads almost like Douglas E. Richard’s autobiography. A successful sci-fi-author decides to give up on writing indefinitely to pursue research into the real truth behind UFOs in the mid 2020s, after reading and being teased and convinced by the publicly released US Government on UFOs in 2021 (this is a real thing). The ex-author, Jason Ramsey is rich enough to hire a very expensive, talented and deadly merc, Tessa Barrett as a partner cum bodyguard as he sets out to find out what the government knows but isn't telling. The start of UNIDENTIFIED plays it pretty straight until it devolves into a near-continuous set of mysteries, plot twists and revelations putting Jason and Tessa in the middle of the fever dream of all fever dreams of sci-fi authors and fans alike. The writing is excellent as it is for all of Richard's novels (I have now read about half of the 20 or so that he has written [much like Jason Ramsey]), and is suffused with lots of pop culture and literature references as much of Richard's other work is. He is also fond of pairing a male protagonist with a strong female co-protagonist and this one is no different. The two engage in witty banter and off-stage sex, also a trademark of Richard's. UNIDENTIFIED has enough to satisfy almost any UFOologist/fan and is well worth reading for most sci-fi-fans, although fans of hard sci-fi are likely to be disappointed by the lack of explanation of how the UFOs, sorry, UAPs actually work. The book is very good, no denying it. But the final pages when the author starts to lecture us on a sentient universe and a brain-like galaxy, it became laughable. People is apparently not contented with fun of a good story. The need to deny God, en passant... preposterous...

I have never read anything by this author before. This book convinced me that I now have to read EVERYTHING written by this author! Unidentified is a wild ride!

Incredibly well written. How ironic that a writer of science fiction should be the one to deliver the most important & revolutionary disclosure about humankind's place in our galaxy. Enjoy.

Like Yeah wow! Again! Each one of Douglas Richards' books has had me mesmerized and riveted to my seat, but this one takes the cake. Richards so brilliantly explores the subject of UFOs and their alleged sightings that it turns from hoakey to intriguingly plausible. Another masterpiece from one of the best writers of our time! A fast, action-packed, ever-twisting plot with great characters and interaction, it makes you wonder if it's all really just fiction. Bravo!
