Kresley Cole takes us on another exciting adventure, filled with steamy romance!
THE IMMORTALS AFTER DARK SERIES:Playing Easy To Get (Anthology that includes an IAD novella to kick- off the series)A Hunger Like No OtherNo Rest For The WickedWicked Deeds On A Winter's NightDark Needs At Night's EdgeDark Desires After Dusk*Read the series in order. You will miss out on a lot if you start with this book.*Yes! This is one of Cole's best so far. The book is fun, exciting, romantic, steamy, and very hard to put down. While "A Hunger Like No Other" is still my favorite of the series, this one was not far behind.Cadeon is a demon torn between claiming his one destined mate and saving his brother's kingdom. His brother, Rystrom, is king of the Rage Demons. Hundreds of years ago, Omort the Deathless (a dark sorcerer) stole his crown in a violent attack. Now, in modern day, Cadeon has the means to kill "The Deathless" sorcerer. Omort's own brother, Groot, has created a sword that can kill Omort. The only payment Groot will accept in exchange for the sword is the woman known as "The Vessel". She will give birth to the world's next all- powerful leader. If a good man impregnates her, the child's power will be good. If a dark being gets to her first, her child will be an unspeakable evil. Every faction either wants to claim her body to carry it's next great leader, or kill her to stop enemies from claiming her. The Vessel will face either rape or murder.Holly has always been "different". She has spent her life dealing with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Everything must be in it's place. She also keeps herself strictly out of the path of anything sexual. As a teen, anything sexual got her excited beyond control. Her unusual strength could hurt a man if she got overexcited. The last thing she needed was to be tossed into the hands of a sexy demon male who lived like a slob. He claims that she is the chosen "Vessel". He must keep her safe from beings that will either try to claim her or kill her.Nix, The Everknowing, has plans. She knows that her niece Holly is Cadeon's true mate. Nix is sure that Cadeon will never be able to turn Holly over to Groot. Setting the future in motion, Nix fixes circumstances to be sure that Cadeon and Holly are forced to travel a long distance together by car. The more time they have together, the more Cadeon will become attached.Cadeon's head is spinning. His arrogance is taking a beating. He knows Holly is his, but she seams to be the one woman whom he can't charm. Far worse, he knows he can't claim her. If he keeps Holly for his own, he can never get Groot's sword to kill Omort. With Rydstrom imprisoned, the entire kingdom is relying on Cadeon to free them from Omort's control. For hundreds of years, Cadeon has waited for this chance to kill Omort. For hundres of years, he has waited for his true mate. Keeping her would prove what his brother has always claimed: That Cadeon was could not be counted on. It would also mean the continued oppression of his people. He has no choice but to hand Holly over to a dark sorcerer. With a heavy heart, Cadeon lies to Holly. To make her come with him willingly, he tells her that the sorcerer can help her be freed of her problems. On the weeks long trek to Groot's hideaway, Cadeon faces the ultimate test. Can he ever give her up? Can a demon live without his heart? If you want to read the whole series, here are the links to the first three books:Playing Easy to Get (An anthology that includes the first IAD story)A Hunger Like No Other (The Immortals After Dark Series, Book 1)No Rest for the Wicked (The Immortals After Dark, Book 2)If you love paranormal romance series, don't miss the Psy/Changeling series. Where the impossible becomes possible
Cadeon Woede will stop at nothing to right the wrong he did his brother, and the discovery that his fated mate is human and therefore untouchable seals his determination. When Holly is kidnapped he realises that not only is she not human, but she is also a famed Vessel desired by everyone in the Lore. Holly Ashwin is forced into a new life as a valkyrie, and gradually learns to trust Cadeon who guards her like a precious jewel. But Cadeon has to face an impossible choice - keep the woman he loves, or sacrifice her to win back his brother's crown and avenge his family. This is the fifth book in the great Immortals after Dark series (after Hunger Like No Other, No Rest for the Wicked, Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night and Dark Needs at Night's Edge) and is the one I have most looked forward to. Hints about Cadeon and his oh-so-human mate that he'll never be able to claim have appeared in several previous books so it was great to see him presented with the opportunity to get to know Holly.I've liked Cadeon since he first appeared in the IAD books so I loved watching him with Holly, especially as Nix asked him in a previous book if he would sacrifice her to help his brother. Holly herself is a great character - starting out as an OCD uptight math geek and then discovering that she is a valkyrie and that there's a whole world she never knew existed. The way Holly deals with the transition is realistic and it was great to see the IAD world from the perspective of a total newbie, especially as it meant more species could be introduced and little quirks of certain species explained. The plot is basically a road trip as Cadeon and Holly travel to get the sword, and the tension is pretty constant throughout although it does have an ebb and flow. I loved Nix's role in the book, and the scenes with her are hilariously funny. The ending was unexpected and well written, and also leads straight into the next book showing a massive personality change for the usually calm Rydstrom. All in all, this was an awesome read and I can't wait for Kiss of a Demon King.Plot: 10/10Characters: 10/10Ending: 10/10Enjoyment: 10/10Cover: 7/10Overall: 47/50

Great addition to the Immortals series!
I have been reading romance novels since I was 15, so a good 20 years now. In my mind nothing like a cup of tea and a good romance novel to escape and unwind at the end of a day.Just to give a sample of my taste, other authors I enjoy are: Jen Holling, Connie Brockway, Johanna Lindsey, Julie Garwood, Christina Dodd, just to name a few. This entire series is such a page turner. I had a hard time putting any of the titles down. More evenings than I care to admit I stayed up way to late "just to read one more chapter".You can feel from the beginning how Cade yearns for Holly. It's like a love that can never work... until fate if you will throws a curve and maybe just maybe there is a chance. Of course first he has to figure out how to trick the the crazy crafty wizard, get the sword and still keep his true love. Hum... well all in a days work. I wanted Cade to find love after reading about him in Wicked Deeds on a Winters Night. I was happy to see him getting his own story and to see that it was a human of all things that first caught his eye. Very great story. At the end I cried for Holly. That feeling of utter betrayal she was feeling really just jumped off the page at you. Great great read!I enjoyed the glimpse of supporting characters so you felt that any of them would be enjoyable to read about in their own series. I'd love to see crazy Nix find love of her own LOl. The entire series is fast and there is not a lot of review of what happened in a prior book. You open the book and off you go. These are not slow moving. I laughed, I cried, I blushed. Boy Ms. Cole writes some steamy scenes. Wow! And I am amazed that nothing repeats. Each book is so different, the plots are so different and the way the main characters relate is so different. Yes they do all have hansom men and lovely ladies. But the dynamic relationship between the main characters is simply fire from page 1 to the end. Out of all my years reading romance. I have never read modern romance before. I can say without a doubt that these are the best romance books I have read and that is truly saying a lot considering how many authors works sit on my shelf.
