They are transparent plastic, which makes it so much easier to align my work because I can see the grid/paper underneath. ​Using them actually brought back great memories of elementary school art projects! I use this ruler when measuring card stock to make handmade cards. The numbers are large enough and easy to see as well as the 1/8 inch marks on the ruler. And it’s so much easier when making cards to have a small ruler than to work with a 12 inch ruler. I highly recommend the ruler.
