Hello Darracott,We have seen Pure Tung Oil last 5+ years if stored in the right conditions.Make sure your Pure Tung Oil is stored in a dark, temperature-controlled, room.Pure Tung Oil oxidizes so you want your storage container to have as little air in it as possible.If your Pure Tung Oil forms a film on the surface, you can peel the film away and use the oil underneath.If your Pure Tung Oil freezes, the natural fat of the oil may separate. Shaking will not help in this situation. What should i clean a 18th century new england pine floor with before applying the tung oil?

I always favor the most gentle approach possible - when dealing with antiques.  My personal preference is nothing more abrasive than # 0000 steel wool - and - acetone.  Takes a lot longer than some other methods - but - worth it.  Then I apply the tung oil with # 0000 steel wool - let it sit for about 30 minutes - then wipe off the excess.  Then - dependent upon how much soaked in - and - how much leaked out - wipe off any excess that might still be leaking out.  After a few days - or - maybe even a week (Tung Oil is an oil which "cures" by oxidation - not - evaporation) apply a second coat.  My preferred finish coat (for furniture - I've never tried for a floor) is Carnauba Wax - buffed to a shine with a shoe brush.  Good luck.

How many coats you need to provide to reach the finish you are looking for varies as well.  I used the dark tung oil to refinish an antique birch piece and needed to apply 7 coats to get the desired finish.  That being said the results were highly satisfactory.

After I cut the tung oil, can I apply with a reg kitchen spray bottle then of course wipe it afterwards

I have never tried a spray bottle as you want to try and control your coats. I imagine you could but if you use a solvent type to cut it down, it will eat the plunger eventually and I would think its to thick to spray. I could be mistaken though. I try to leave the oil on for 30 min and no more. If it absorbs too much, you will never get it to dry. Every project I have done has taken at least 15 days to semi-dry and then another 15 to fully. (area and temp will change drying times) If you are using PTO on food type surfaces, use what the Real Milk Paint website for a recommended mix. (non-toxic) If its for a project, cut it 50/50 with mineral spirits (not turpentine) on the first coat and straight PTO on the rest.  You must (if possible) HAND RUB it into the wood. The heat from the friction is what helps the wood absorb it. Some woods will absorb it easily without rubbing but hard dense woods like beech, are very difficult. It takes a lot of practice to get it right but the end result is beautiful.
