I read couple of reviews from people who said that this product killed their fish. I am not going to deny the fact that I was a bit reluctant to buy it because of that. However, I also read about articles about the ingredients of this product and that it helps the fish.My fish have been suffering from fin rot and bacterial infections as I was stupid enough to put new bought guppies into the maintank without treating or quarantining the fish first. As a consequent to my actions, fishes in my whole tank suffered because of it and I lost some of them due to these conditions. Now, this was several months ago which was treated with medication.I noticed my remaining fish to be hanging around the bottom or on top, which alarmed me, only to find one of my platy balooning up and dying, again due to an internal parasite/bacteria. I found this product and still wanted to go ahead and buy it despite the few negative reviews that claimed to have killed their fish. Now, my guess is that those fishes may have suffered great deal already and were going to die anyway or people who claim their fishes died did not follow the instructions properly - it may have been caused by something else as well I do not know.I am using this product on both aquarium and pond fish. Please ensure you are deluting the right amount of this product into the water! Get your calculator out and calculate for the actual amount you need to use for the size of your tank. I have some syringes which i use to measure and release into the water. I don't know if it makes any difference but I am releasing the product slowly to let it spread around slowly.I am only using it once after water changes, and my god, my fishes have been more active than they have ever been. They are happy, they are swimming and they are all eating.. none of them are hiding anymore. Same goes for my pond fish!I did not bave any probpems and I am very impressed overall. I will be contiuing to use it after every water change as it seems to be keeping my fish happy.

Great value, worked well, easy to use

After seeing many contradictory reviews, I was sceptical in using this to treat fin rot on my Betta fish.I gave it a try a fin was not improving with water changes and almond leaves. I used a fraction of the recommended dosage in combination to almond leaves after a good water change and went on for a week. I gradually increased the dose but still, the highest uned was still half of the recommended on the tube.Fin rot treated and happy life in my aquarium! 😄

The price of this I'm not happy with purely because its such a hike and an expensive product.. its useful but expensive and considerably more than it used to be some time ago. Good product otherwise, but it should be cheaper for numerous reasons. Recommend the product

Best fish medication I've ever used. I had a cherry barb with a wound on his side which had started to grow fungus. I'd heard good things about Melafix so I thought I'd give it a go. The fungus disappeared straight away and the wound healed nicely, now I can hardly tell him apart from his companions. Very easy to use, just calculate how much you need for your tank (5ml for every 38 litres of water), add this amount every day for a week, then do a 25% water change. Couldn't be simpler. Smells nice too! Just a couple of things to watch out for - apparently this stuff can reduce the oxygen levels in the water, so you will need to make sure you have plenty of aeration i.e. airstone or venturi. Secondly, a lot of users have reported that Melafix is fatal to pencilfish. There is nothing on the bottle about this, because the manufacturers have carried out tests in response to these reports and did not find any conclusive evidence that it is harmful to pencilfish. But nevertheless a lot of users have reported this problem. But as long as you don't have pencilfish in your tank you should be fine.

Used very carefully - please do read instructions and take in the breed of fish (and any other tank inhabitants) you're using it on into consideration before dosing. Stuff is like magic potion when used correctly. Brought my betta back from the brink- I was certain he was too far gone with a bad case of finrot but tried anyway. He's now back to full health being his usual water piggy self and his fins are as billowy as ever.

Seems to be working so far, good value for size of bottle

I have an Electric Blue Acara which shows signs of fin rot and general unwellness. This product is very easy to use and did not cause any fish death as some reviews seem to claim. Unfortunately I did not see any improvement in my Electric Blue Acara. If I'm completely honest he seems to do better without this medication.The reason for my 3 star is that I'm undecided on the product as it's difficult to know if it is effective or not. I may vey well try it again in the future as I have maybe chosen the wrong medication for my fish or unfortunately it is maybe past saving although it is still alive and eats small amounts. It still has fin rot, spends most of its day in the bottom corner of the tank and not very active.

I bought this for our colony of guppies and it worked like a charm! It took about a week like it said but it definitely did the job! I would highly recommend this product to anyone!

Works easy. Very easy instructions. Helps the fish! Is safe to use.

Worked well for my pond

I turned up the heat and doubled the recommended dose. Even killed my pest snails! All four fish survived and are now thriving. I ordered an extra bottle because it worked great. No need to ever try anything else.

Bought for AQUARIUM use. After the higher concentration was calculated, it works same as the aquarium variety, but for about 1/4 the cost!!! Very good!
