It’s not bumpy and I can set a tray on top and serve snacks. I can take out and wash and it fluffs up better than “filler”. **Q: Could this item be used to assist a small dog (12lb) to jump onto a bed??** A: It would depend on what material u used to fill it with. It would have to not be to flexible or sink when the dog stepped/jumped up on it. There wouldn’t be a lot of surface area for the dog to stand on it. We prefer to use doggie steps. **Q: What do you stuff it with?** A: You can use about any soft material. We used stuffing from old pillows and some foam bean bag beads we ordered off amazon that we had on hand. You can also use old soft clothes etc. **Q: I want a step to get on my high bed. How much weight will it hold?** A: Well, it doesn’t come stuffed. You have to do that part on your own!
