Good support
Easy to insert in shoes and easy on the feet.

It's on top.....
... the orthotic part, that is.I ordered these not really knowing which pair of shoes they were going to go in.I just got a new pair of hiking/walking shoes that fit just a little large on my feet.I put these in them and they sized them nicely for me (that is with the original inserts, which are glued in, still in the shoes). Now, I understand that's not the focus of what their function really is, but that was an added bonus for me with these. These are comfortable; not "squishy" or "sloshy"; for me, just right. Some of the inserts I have ordered that are an orthotic type have a very hard plastic orthotic but on the very bottom layer of the insert. These have their top layer which they correctly state on the product page is a "non-slip" layer, and then somewhere underneath that (there might be some other layers in between) is a gentle orthotic layer.I say gentle because in comparison to that other one that had its orthotic on the very bottom, this does give a supportive feeling, but it's not hard and plasticky like that other one. These appear to be made of quality materials and their construction appears to be good; something that will provide a good amount of service, time wise.I will enjoy these in those new hiking/walking shoes.By the way those shoes were a size 12 and I ordered the men's size 12 of these inserts. They fit perfectly in the size 12 shoes with no trimming needed; not too short, not too long.Happy with these...I hope this review has enabled you to make an informed purchase decision.I rarely give an overall five-star rating.

They run a bit small. Not very much arch support
These are built well, and seem like they would last. If you don't need much arch support, and if you pay attention to the sizing, then these might work for you. However, they are not going to work for me.I'm a Men's size 12 (sometimes 12.5), and I got the Large, which is supposed to fit Men's sizes 10.5-12. However, they're small on me - the insert is long enough, but the arch is built for a smaller foot. I would estimate the size Large is really for shoe sizes 10-11.They're also a tad narrow - on a size 12D shoe, you can see a small gap on the sides. The arch is not very high. These are advertised for plantar fasciitis, which typically requires more support in the arch not less, so I feel the advertising is a bit misleading. However, this depends a little bit on if you're adding to an insole that already has some arch support. For me, however, even if the size worked, the arch is too low.The support has a plastic core, but it's thin and not very rigid, and it has about 1/4" layer of rubber for padding. It is not a thick cushy memory foam style support. That is fine for me, I don't really like soft or cushy inserts, I really don't feel they help, I prefer this style with just a thin layer of rubber. But if you're looking for a soft, memory-foam style insert, you should look elsewhere. For more arch support, my favorite brands are PowerStep Plus Performance Insole, and EASYFEET Plantar Fasciitis Strong Arch Support Insoles. For a normal arch (or for installing above a shoe insert that already has some arch support), my favorite is Dr. Scholl's Eco-Foam Insoles, which work fantastic inside my Nikes.

Easy to trim, arch support is in proper position and cushion is acceptable

In my walk I found that not only was the arch support height at a good level, but the arch support was also properly positioned (even after trimming the top of the insole slightly to fit more easily into my shoes); not too far forward to too far backward. Also, the arch support was what I consider to be the right amount of firmness versus squishiness when walking. During my walk I was able to feel the support under my arches but the support wasn’t uncomfortably hard at any point; especially when the miles started adding up.From an overall cushion perspective, I don’t consider these insoles to be the most cushion I’ve ever had in an insole but with a thickness of right around ½ mm I found the cushion that is given, for the entire length of the insole, was more than acceptable when walking and I think the cushion did help make the walk more comfortable. The insoles I have are size small and, out of the package, were right around 10 ¼ inches by 3 inches and were just a tiny bit too large for the pair of shoes I wanted to use the insoles in. I found that the insoles where very easy to trim so I was able to get a nice fit in the shoes. In addition, something I’ve never seen before in any insoles I’ve had in the past, both the heel of the insole and the sole of the insole had an extra ‘pad’ that had some stickiness on the pad. This did seem to help somewhat in holding the insoles in place once I got them positioned.Overall, I’m pleased with the support and comfort that these insoles have shown during my walks; time will tell how long (how many miles) these insoles will last but, for now least, I think the quality is as-good-as or even better than other insoles that I’ve tried. If this review was helpful, please click the Helpful button below
