I use this Dykem Steel Blue layout fluid regularly on my manual lathe, and honestly, there's nothing quite like it for metalworking. When you need clear, precise scribe lines on your workpiece, this is the stuff that does the job properly. The coverage is excellent - a 4oz bottle goes a long way, and it applies evenly with a nice, thin coating. Dries quickly enough that you're not sat around waiting, and the blue colour provides brilliant contrast against most metals. Your scribed lines show up absolutely crisp and clear, which is exactly what you need when you're working to tight tolerances on a manual lathe. Now, here's the important bit: wear gloves. This fluid stains like you wouldn't believe. Get it on your hands and you'll be walking around with blue fingers for days. I learned that the hard way early on.
